Situated in a small, rural hamlet with popular riding stables 150 yards away, the cabin is in an elevated, sunny, private position with stunning views over west Exmoor. The cabin has a sunny veranda with garden furniture for outdoor dining. The cabin is ideal for children, with a private garden and off-road parking. It is surrounded by countryside with farm animals all around. The seaside village of Combe Martin is 4 miles away where there is a sandy beach and a small supermarket and bakery. Lynton is 7 miles away where the cliff railway is a popular attraction. Exmoor Zoo, Combe Martin Wildlife and Dinosaur Park and Arlington NT House are 10 minutes drive away and there are a number of good pubs within a short distance. Surfing beaches such as Woolacombe and Croyde are 25 minutes drive. Rocky coves such as Woody Bay and Pear Tree Bay are around 6 miles away. The area is ideal for keen walkers and cyclists and we can provide a 'picking up' service for those wanting to explore.

Changeover day for weekly bookings is Saturdays. However, short lets are available on request.

Notes on accommodation
Heating is via electric heaters. Well behaved dogs are allowed at the owners discretion. A charge of £20 will be required for each dog (maximum of 2). We would ask that they are restricted to the porch and kitchen area. This property is ideal for families with children.

Accessibility
Unfortunately, this property is not suitable for wheelchair users as the doors are quite narrow. The property is on one floor but has steps leading up from the car parking area and on to the veranda.

Outside
A sunny veranda is accessible via patio doors from the sitting room and double bedroom. There is garden furniture and a barbecue for outside dining. The lawn is laid to grass.

Coast/Beach
Rocky coastal beaches such as Combe Martin, Lee Bay, Woody Bay and Watermouth Bay are 5-15 minutes drive. There are many surfing and sandy beaches within 25 minutes drive, including Woolacombe, Saunton Sands, Croyde and Putsborough.

Golf
There are numerous golf courses in North Devon. The nearest is Ilfracombe (about 15 mins drive) but there is also Willingcott and the prestigious Saunton Sands which is a links course (both about 25 mins drive). Towards Barnstaple there is a course at Landkey (25 mins).

Travel
Nearest airport is Bristol (2 hours away) or Newquay (2 hours). The port of Plymouth is 2 1/2 hours. The use of a car is essential.

Combe Martin 4 miles, Lynton 7 miles, Barnstaple 11 miles. Exmoor Zoo 4 miles, Dinasaur Park 2 miles, Heddon Hall Gardens 3 miles, Arlington National Trust House 3 miles, Rosemoor RHS 20 miles.

Further details
There is a village shop 3 miles away and a small supermarket 4 miles away. Large supermarkets are 10 miles away. There are a number of good, child-friendly pubs within 10 minutes drive and some good restaurants on the quayside in Ilfracombe and in Combe Martin. Indoor swimming pools in South Molton and Ilfracombe are 20 minutes drive. Riding lessons and hacks are available from Dean Riding Stables 150 yards from the lodge and golf courses at Saunton Sands and Ilfracombe are 20 minutes drive.

Booking notes
A 25% deposit will be required on booking with the remainder of payment due 3 weeks before time of stay. On arrival a signed cheque for £100 will be taken as a damages deposit which will be returned to you after the property has been inspected after your departure.

About the owner
My husband and I live with our two children (9 and 10), three dogs, one cat, ten chickens and 2 ducks. We run a green energy company from our office on the farm, developing anaerobic digesters and wind turbines. I am also a cookery writer and have written two cookery books. We enjoy outdoor pursuits such as walking on the moors, riding, surfing and fishing, as well as swimming, tennis and skiing. My children are very active and constantly on their bikes or on the trampoline. My husband is a DIY demon which is fantastic around the house. I enjoy my garden although I am no expert. I tend to concentrate on my vegetable garden and we are lucky enough to have a wide selection of fruit trees on our property.

Why the owner chose a home in this location
My husband is North Devon born and bred although we met when he was working in London. His parents lived in the property before us and when they retired from the medical profession, we bought their house and they moved into the smaller barn conversion next door. We are great walkers so living on Exmoor was ideal for us. The view from our property - looking over the moors - never tires for either of us and the changing seasons ensure there is always something to look at. Although we are very local to the coastal attractions and the village of Combe Martin, and easily accessible to the North Devon link road and M5, we are situated in a very pretty and secluded hamlet, away from the busy summer crowds with little or no cars passing by.

Unique benefits of the property
I think the lodge has simply the best position on Exmoor, with a breathtaking view across the hills and valleys of the moor. With the rocky coast just a couple of miles away and the beautiful South West Coast Path winding its way along the cliffs, this is one of the most beautiful spots in the West Country.
