Changeover day
For the period mid March to end of October the changeover day is Saturday. In at 3pm on day of arrival, leave at 10am on day of departure. For other dates the changeover day is flexible.

Notes on accommodation
Hillcrest Cottage has full gas fired central heating and is double glazed making it perfect for autumn/winter holidays. Pets (usually dog(s)) are allowed free of charge by prior discussion with the owners. The owners are dog friendly having a Basset Hound of their own. Non-smokers only. An extensive range of books/guide books, films on video and some DVDs/CDs are provided for our visitors.
Outside
Front drive parking for 2 cars. Small private and secure rear patio garden with tables and chairs. Front garden with rockery.
Coast/Beach
The coast at Arnside is a 4 mile drive away. With walks along the foreshore or if you are feeling energetic to the summit of Arnside Knot 800ft. Alternatively in the opposite direction (4 miles)you can walk along the old Lancater to Kendal Canal.
Golf
Golf at Kirkby Lonsdale 11 miles and Grange-Over-Sands 10 miles.
Travel
To get the best from the area a car is recommended. Travel to the area by road is generally via the M6 either junction 35 or 36. Should you wish to use public transport the famous 555 bus runs through Milnthorpe on it's run from Lancaster to Keswick and return. It is reckoned to be the most scenic route in England. Special family tickets are available.
Distances
Hillcrest Cottage is situated 1/4 mile from Milnthorpe village centre. The historic market town of Kendal is 6 miles. Lake Windermere is 13 miles (20 minutes by fast road). Kirkby Lonsdale (edge of the Dales) 13 Miles. Locally, Arnside 4 miles an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty (AONB). RSPB centre at Leighton Moss 3 Miles. Lakeland Wildlife Oasis a wow with children 2 miles. Visit the famous clock from "Brief Encounter" at the fully restored Carnforth Station 7 miles. Midland Hotel Morecombe
Further details
Milnthorpe has a full range of local shops and a supermarket. An open air market is held every Friday. There are several banks and cash points. Just a short walk from the village centre is deer park open to the public. There are numerous local pubs and restaurants. Kendal has a popular leisure centre and swimming pool. Late in 2010 will see the opening of the new K Village retail outlet.
