Nearest beach Portmellon 600yds (safe sandy cove, plenty of rock pools - high tide covers beach but access by free public slipway). 500yds to the harbour and small harbour beach at Mevagissey. Plenty of other unspoilt beaches within 10 minutes drive; Porthluney 'Caerhayes', Gorran Haven, Hemmick to name but a few. We are on the coastal footpath. Surfing beaches, Newquay, Perranporth etc on the North Coast 35 minutes drive.
Golf
5 miles to St Austell & Porthpean golf courses, Carlyon Bay 7 miles. Porthpean & Carlyon Bay open to visitors, St Austell handicap required.
Travel
Airport: Newquay 20 miles. Exeter 1.5 hours. Bristol 2.5 hours.
Local Train Station: St Austell - regular mainline Intercity services with regular bus connections from the station to Mevagissey.

Further details
Mevagissey starts its Feast Week on 24 June 2012, which includes a full week of activities and entertainment, culminating in a Grand Fete and Carnival Procession with a spectacular firework display on the last evening. Mevagissey has many attractions within the village such as the Mevagissey Folk Museum, the World of Model Railways, craft and pottery shops, and a small aquarium. Local Activity Centre, with bowling and tennis etc. Ferry to Fowey, boating and fishing trips from the harbour, or fish from the harbour lighthouse pier. Diving School. At Christmas the harbour and streets are festooned with lights and New Year's Eve has a good hearted party atmosphere with fancy dress everywhere!
