There are fantastic walks around the headland to Mylor Yacht Harbour. The beach is perfect for picnics, playing with the kids, or just relaxing. During Flushing regatta week it plays host to the famous sandcastle building competition. Access is easy and the beach is dog friendly all year.

Special interest holidays
From Flushing there is easy access onto some of the best sailing waters anywhere in the West Country, with the Helford River, the Fal Estury, Falmouth Bay and Mylor Yacht Harbour all within reach. Flushing has a Sailing Club that welcomes guests, and boat rentals can be arranged at Mylor Yacht Harbour or from Falmouth Yacht Brokers in Penryn. There are nearby schools for surfing, wind surfing and dinghy sailing.

Penryn is the nearest rail station and connects to mainline services at Truro, which has a direct rail link to London (Paddington) with a journey time of approximately 4 hours. There is also a regular local bus service. Air travellers can fly from London Stansted or Gatwick to Newquay.

Further details
Flushing Village is said to be one of the warmest villages in the UK because it has an idyllic sheltered south-facing aspect, between the banks of the Penryn River and Falmouth Harbour. It became popular in the eighteenth century as the choice location for the wealthy Packet Ship captains, and was visited by Admiral Nelson. Latterly it has become one of the most sought-after locations anywhere in the West Country.
Flushing has an unrivalled mild climate, streets lined with picture-postcard traditional terraced fisherman’s cottages, and beautiful unspoilt surrounding countryside. The village has two friendly pubs - The Royal Standard, which was recently renovated and offers excellent food, and The Seven Stars, a more traditional pub with an equally extensive menu. There is also an award-winning restaurant located on the quayside, a well-stocked general store, and a farm shop selling local produce.
Many Cornish villages have become over crowded with tourists, but Flushing is much quieter, even during peak season, and it still benefits from a strong and vibrant community. Unlike Mevagissey, Padstow, St Ives and similar towns, parking is generally easily available, either outside the house or in a car park at the end of the street.
The Flushing Regatta and Flushing Art Week are two unique annual fixtures not to be missed that the whole community embraces! A passenger ferry runs a regular service between Flushing and Falmouth. It also connects with the ferries to St Mawes, Mylor, Trelissick and Truro. In summer the Fal River boats offer trips to the gardens of Trebah and Glendurgan, and onwards to Truro. A local water taxi service also runs around the bay.
Booking notes
Changeover days are usually Saturdays. Weekend rentals run from Friday to Sunday or Monday, but are not available in peak season. A 25% deposit is required at the time of booking, and full payment must be received at least eight weeks prior to your stay.
Guest comments
'We have so enjoyed your house - what fabulous accommodation. The village is lovely as well. We have truly loved being here and are sad to be going. We are on our way to Wales next but would have happily stayed longer here instead. My son said that "The Green House" is his favourite holiday house, and I have to say it is mine as well. We loved Cornwall.' Katy & Family, Canada
'The cottage was very clean and cosy. Flushing is lovely - not crowded like some Cornish villages. Great walks and beautiful beaches close by. Enjoyed every minute and would love to come again.' - Valerie and Derek, Kent.
'Loved the Lost Gardens of Heligan, meals at The Standard and The Flushing Ferry to Falmouth. Lovely walks round the headland to Mylor Marina. Maisie had a great time swimming in the sea. The cottage is beautiful and very well equipped.' - Harriet & Family, Somerset.

About the owner
You save for months and look forward to your holidays, and I know how disappointing it is if you arrive to find that the house you are staying in does not live up to the picture painted when you booked it. With this in mind we have gone out of our way to ensure that we use only the very best fixtures and fittings to make your holiday the dream that you deserve. I am always available to answer your calls or e-mails, whether it is to ask how the Sky TV works, where to buy fresh chillies, or how to get to The Eden Project.

Why the owner chose a home in this location
Having holidayed in Flushing many times in the past few years we fell in love with the village and it's unique and vibrant community. It was an easy decision to buy a property here when we were lucky enough to be able to purchase a holiday house of our own. The Green House is our home from home, and I know that you will enjoy being there as much as my partner and I and our Golden Retriever Nelson do. The locals are very friendly and the two pubs and the restaurant on the quayside all serve fantastic food.
