Once a hayloft with milking parlour below, has now been converted to a beautiful 3 bed holiday cottage with veranda and private garden with views across the pond and out to sea. East and West Portholland have recently been declared a National Heritage Asset. The areas around Portholland are virtually unchanged for well over 100 years. This hamlet of Portholland where time seems to have stood still is a rarity in this day and age. At high tide Portholland has 2 separate coves but when the tide is low these coves are joined together by golden sand. Ideal for families Portholland is equidistant between St Austell and Truro and is a great base for exploring deeper into the intriguing Roseland Peninsula with a great choice of pubs and restaurants within a short drive. It is also particularly well placed as it receives the maximum amount of sunshine most of the year thus creating a balmy type climate that lasts until Autumn.

Changeover day
Our changeover day is Saturday however we are happy to be flexible with this out of peak season. Short/ weekend breaks are also considered off peak.

Accommodation

Bedroom 1 with King size bed and sink. Bedroom 2 with twin beds. Bedroom 3 with single bed. Large wardrobes in all bedrooms. Bathroom with shower over bath, toilet and basin. Fridge, separate small freezer, dishwasher, microwave, electric cooker, Krups coffee machine, washing machine, use of tumble dryer if required. Reverse level accommodation to take full advantage of views! Open plan living area with stable door leading to veranda. With 2 x sofas, dining table and chairs, LCD television, DVD player (large selection of dvds) Sky TV, Wifi, CD/radio player. Services included: Oil central heating, electric, high quality bed linen (duvets), Egyptian cotton towels. Fresh bedding and towels will be given weekly for stays of more than one week.

'The Den' is basic accommodation sleeping 2 and is situated adjacent to Pond Meadow cottage. There is a kitchen with dining table, bathroom (bath with shower over) and steepish stairs leading to the roof area where you will find a cosy seating area (with Free Sat TV) and double bed with Velux window. No private garden, but just seconds from Portholland seafront! Use of Washing machine and tumble dryer (in shared utility/entrance). 'The Den' is available from May till October and is a perfect cheap bolt hole or walkers stop over. Dogs are welcome (£25 per dog per week/£4 per night , max.2 and must be kept downstairs only). Just £300 per week/ £45 per night (Saturday changeover). Bedding not included (King size Duvet and 4 pillows provided), please bring linen and towels.

 

Notes on accommodation
Pets are welcome at Pond Meadow. There is a surcharge of £25 per dog (max.2) On no account are dogs to be left unattended in the cottage.

Accessibility
Unfortunately neither properties are suitable for people with mobility problems.

Outside
Pond Meadow has a private garden with furniture and BBQ. Veranda with small table and 2 chairs. The Den has no garden (although there is a small table and 2 chairs outside where you are also welcome to BBQ although one is not provided) but is just metres from the beach. Both Portholland beach (50 metres away) and Caerhays Beach (5 minute drive away) are dog friendly all year round.

Approximately 50 metres to the sea front!

Special interest holidays
Fantastic for walkers. Coastpath starts just minutes from 'The Den' and 'Pondmeadow' (nightly rate of £45 available for 'The Den' only)

Nearest Airport: Newquay. Nearest Train Station: St Austell.
Car essential.

Distances
20 minute drive to St Austell. 25 minute drive to Truro. 15 minute drive to Mevagissey. 5 minute drive to Caerhayes Castle and gardens.

Further details
A wide choice of pubs and restaurants on the Roseland peninsula. Nearest convenience store is a 10 minute drive away with cash point facilities.

Booking notes
£150 deposit per week booked. Remaining balance payable a minimum of 6 weeks prior to arrival. Please note once paid deposits/balance is non refundable so please ensure you have adequate insurance. £25 per dog (max of 2). Sorry but breakages are to be paid for.

Everything was perfect. We even had sunshine! The cottage was wonderful and the area beautiful. Would recommend the coast walk to Portloe although hard work! Fowey/Polruan are also a must! Thank you - we cant wait to come back!
