Dunwich self-catering holiday accommodation is found in and around a small town on the coast of Suffolk. It’s a picturesque setting with a great deal of history – Dunwich was once one of England’s largest cities, but nearly all of it has been lost over the centuries to coastal erosion. At a Dunwich holiday home you can still find the ruins of a Franciscan priory close by – it was rebuilt in the 14th Century to avoid the ever encroaching sea, but today sits just a few feet from the waterfront. Outside the town, Dunwich Heath is a lovely spot for a walk or bike ride, with stunning coastal scenery, and idyllic country views inland.

An hour’s drive up the coast from a Dunwich holiday home will take you to the seaside town of Lowestoft. This is Britain’s most easterly settlement, and offers an attractive sandy waterfront, which has been awarded European Blue Flag status. You could come here from a Dunwich self-catering cottage to enjoy a day at the beach or visit tearooms or enjoy a show at the famous Marina Theatre. If you’re a keen golfer then there are plenty of opportunities for a round close to Dunwich self-catering holiday accommodation – Thorpeness, Aldeburgh, Southwold and Halesworth golf clubs are all within a 20-minute drive.

Weather

At a holiday home in Dunwich you can expect pleasantly warm weather if you visit in summer, with temperatures occasionally reaching as high as 25 degrees. Winters here are usually mild or moderately cool.

Best Time to Visit
