Exclusive luxury 4 bedroom 4 bathroom residence which sits below historic St Hilarion Castle. It is surrounded by olive and citrus groves. Just 4 miles from the scenic Kyrenia harbour. A private pool and relaxation pool set in beautiful gardens add to the ambiance and perfection of this house and its unspoilt panoramic views. NB. Since this is a private residential home we only rent from July - September for a maximum of 6-8 weeks, on a weekly or fortnightly basis (no long term rentals are considered). We regret that we are not able to accept babies or children under 10 yrs of age.

Notes on accommodation
This is a beautiful, luxury, individual built villa which is ideal for 1 or 2 families sharing. There is full air conditioning in all rooms (except the Kitchen which has a free standing fan). The property boasts picturesque, magnificant views of both the mountains on one side, with the sea on the other. Villa Tiwi is not overlooked, affording peace and tranquility plus total privacy surrounded by agricultural land, lemon and olive groves, but being within easy distance of the bustle of Kyrenia and nightlife for those who want it - without the "night activity" often associated with clubs and discos in other villages and beach resorts!...

Accessibility
There is one twin bedroom with en-suite shower/wc etc. On the ground floor making it suitable for the less mobile guest.

Outside
The beautiful, spacious gardens are well maintained, landscaped with mature olive tree, hibiscus, bourganvillias etc. The pool is safe for children provided they are supervised at all times. The private pool is a substantial roman ended pool size 12m x 6m with a smaller relaxation pool, patios and terraces surround the property. There are ample tables, chairs, sun loungers etc. plus a barbeque area.

Coast/Beach
There are many sandy beaches to the East and West of Kyrenia, within easy reach - the nearest within 5 minutes drive. Turtle beach (ALIGADI) is a short drive away as well as many hotel beaches which offer water sport facilities plus quiet sandy coves away from the crowds.

Golf
The new magnificent 18 hole Golf Course is situated between Aligadi and Esentepe and is an easy 15km. drive from the villa, en route to the famous Karpaz area - (known as the ‘pan-handle’). Trolleys and clubs are available for hire by the day.

Travel
Ercan is the nearest airport which is approx 40 mins drive. Taxi transfers can be arranged at extra costs. A hire car is essential and can be collected from the airport or delivered to the villa. Cheaper flights available into Larnaca in the South, taxi transfers can be arranged at a return cost approx £110, this journey takes closer to 75 mins. Unfortunately hire cars are not yet permitted to cross from the TRNC to the South yet, although we understand that cars may be hired in the south.

Distances
Villa Tiwi, Zeytinlik is just a short walk from the village and a selection of excellent restaurants. Kyrenia is a 8 min. drive away with its ancient picturesque harbour, castle, museum, shops and many first class restaurants. St Hilarion Castle is visible on the mountainside above the villa -illuminated by night and beautiful Bellapais Abbey is a mere 10 min drive. Famagusta is approx an hour's drive away, whilst The Karpaz is closer to 2.5 hrs drive. Lefkosa (Nicosia) is just 25 mins drive.

Further details
There are numerous excellent restaurants, many of international standards such as Niazi's (est. 1947). The Archway, (local and walking distance of the villa), The Address, The Ambiance, Efendi in the old Turkish quarter, plus The Dragon Chinese Restaurant located at the Rocks Hotel. HSBC has a branch in Girne (Kyrenia), plus all the Turkish Banks ATM's are easily found - Sterling & YTL are the accepted currency ( Euros only for the South). Visa, Maestro, MasterCard c.c.'s are generally accepted but so far AMEX & Diners are very limited, mainly only in the larger hotels.There are a good number of supermarkets Lemar, Astro, Tempo & Bektas being the larger ones, offering a good variety of foods, vegetables plus wines etc. Every Wednesday there is an all-day open market which is well worth going to for 'just about everything and anything'! Cyprus is known for its ancient historic places of interest from the Roman ruins at Salamis with its amphitheatre (near Famagusta) to Vouni Palace and the mosaics at Soli. The Crusader Castles of Buffavento, Kantara and the already mentioned St Hilarion. The Karpaz Peninsula is another trip well worth the experience, with its miles and miles of golden sandy beaches; the wild donkeys grazing in scrub land, plus the turtles. To fully appreciate this lovely unspoilt area its best to book an overnight stay as there are a couple of small hotels offering B&B at very reasonable costs. There are a wide variety of sporting activities from horse-riding, tennis, tandem paragliding, scuba diving, fishing trips (from Kyrenia Harbour), plus water-sports are available at most of the hotel beaches, including Escape Beach which offers pedalos, water-skiing, speed boat trips plus banana boat rides etc.

Booking notes
20% initial deposit which is non-refundable. Full balance due not less than 8 weeks prior to arrival. Full payment required if booking within 8 weeks. For cancellation within 8 weeks a further fee will be charged of not less than 50% of total booking. If we re-let the property for the full duration of the booking then only the deposit will be lost. A deposit bond of £400 is charged against breakages, damage +all electric cost in excess of £100 per 14 days and is refundable subject to no damage!

About the owner
Villa Tiwi is now owned by me and is my main residence since retiring in 2007. It is exceedingly well equipped to a high standard, architecturally designed as a 'one-off' luxury home with a splendid pool. I only rent for a few weeks in July/August annually during which time I am not in the TRNC. The house is truly beautiful, set on its own, in one of the most majestic settings in the whole of Cyprus - views of the the sea on one side and the beauty of the mountains on the other, directly facing the crusader castle of St Hilarion. It is ideally situated for easy access to the idyllic, unspoilt and picturesque harbour of Girne (known locally also as Kyrenia), which is less than ten minutes by car, plus the many beaches and coves along the coast are also within minutes drive of the villa.

Why the owner chose a home in this location
I fell in love with Cyprus; - initially the South in 1981, but not until 1996 did I discover the sheer beauty, peace, remoteness and (the then!) non commercially developed TRNC. I have travelled extensively Worldwide throughout my life for business and pleasure and having reached total disillusionment with the British Government in recent years wanted to find a relatively stress free place where I could spend the next 15-20 yrs enjoying life, - but being near enough to be able to return to the UK for whatever family and/or reasons may present themselves in the future.

Unique benefits of the property
The benefits of staying at Villa Tiwi are too numerous to mention, although they are pretty comprehensively described through the general summary on the Owners Direct entry. The location, total peace and privacy, the panoramic views in this pocket of utter beauty and tranquility are unique and sheer paradise, - not to be compared to the vast majority of "estate" properties available!
