Children of all ages are welcome and would enjoy Villa Rockheart but very young ones must be supervised around the pool as it is not fenced and the garden adjoins a steep hillside.

Outside
The swimming pool is 11m x 6m and surrounded by large terraces. It is much bigger than most villa pools and the Roman End makes it very easy to access. Lots of loungers, chairs and tables and a bbq. Various places to dine outside, covered and open to the stars. The views from the pool and gardens are breathtaking. Walking trails begin from the back garden and go through the Besparmak mountains.
There are delightful gardens surrounding the property planted with bougainvillea, jasmine, almond, jacaranda, orange and lemon trees. There is even a wonderful grapevine which is scrambling over the terrace roof. Beyond the garden borders the hillsides are green with olive trees, firs, wild thyme and almond trees, all adding to the fantastic views. Our gardens literally blend into the wild mountainsides. Villa Rockheart and its gardens are extremely private and you will not be overlooked by anybody whilst enjoying the pool and terraces.
There is covered parking for two cars.
Coast/Beach
Escape Beach is around 10 minutes drive away (2km). Perfect for families with sandy beach and shallow depths. Cafe, showers, watersports, beds, umbrellas.
Many other sandy beaches along this part of the coast.
40 minutes drive brings you to the turtle beaches around Esentepe. The further east you go the larger the beaches and the less developed.
Golf
The Cengiz Topel Golf Club is located about 30 minutes from Ilgaz on the Guzelyurt to Lefke road in the village of Yesilyurt. The course is laid out in two loops of nine with 17 tees; it plays to a par 70 and measures 5233 yards. The course is both interesting and challenging with four seaside holes providing a cooling breeze on the hottest days. The 9 hole course features 2 par 3's, 6 par 4's and a par 5, the par 5 along the seaside has a large palm tree on the putting surface, the par 4 2nd has a dry water hazard with a 150 yard carry, the 12th has a 130 yard carry along the seaside and back over the water hazard. With insufficient water to create greens these are replaced by browns, a mixture of sand and oil that provides a very good putting surface. The Corineum Country Club at Esentepe is a new wonderful 18 hole international standard course with clubhouse restaurant, practice greens etc. It is 30 minutes from the villa.
Travel
Ercan Airport is 38 km - around 40 minutes drive. £25 taxi.
Larnaca Airport (Republic of Cyprus) is 90 minutes by car. £40 taxi. You need your passport but border crossing is straightforward.
A hire car is essential. We can arrange discounted hire (starts at around £16 per day) and this can be delivered to the villa. Transfers to and from the airport are generally included in car hire costs. Petrol is much cheaper than the UK.
Distances
Kyrenia (Girne) is about 20 minutes drive. Great shops, restaurants, bars. Colourful harbour which comes alive at night. Gulet trips. Nightclubs.
Bellapais is about 30 minutes drive - picturesque ruined abbey.
Karpas Peninsula is about 3 hours drive - unspoiled wildlife and scenery.
St Hilarion Castle - 20 minutes drive - Crusader castle.

Supermarket 5 minutes drive - very well stocked including English products. Fresh bread and milk daily. Vegetables, liquor. Will deliver. 2 more very large supermarkets on the way towards Kyrenia.
Butcher - near supermarket.
Bank: Turkbank with ATM, 10 minutes drive in direction Kyrenia.
Escape Beach Club: Nightclub for teens on the beach - 10 mins drive.
Sweet Valley Restaurant/Bar: 5 minutes walk down hill.
Many other restaurants including Cypriot, French, Italian, Chinese, Indian and Australian within 10 minutes drive.
Banks & Currency:
Banks and exchange offices can change all foreign currencies for Turkish Lira(YTL). There are branches of many Turkish, Cypriot and international banks in Kyrenia. All these offices and banks are open from Monday to Friday between 08.00am-12.00am / 02.00pm-04.00pm. Plenty of ATMs. Money exchanging is possible in the hotels and shopping centres.
Voltage: 230v 13amp 3 pin plugs just the same as the UK.
Walking: Trails wind through the Besparmak Mountains from the end of our garden. From the trails you will see monasteries, Crusader Castles, ruined abbeys, waterfalls and wonderful views.
Scuba Diving: 10 minutes to 2 diving schools. Over 20 dive sites very close by. Longer trips to Karpas and the Zenobia. Best diving in the Mediterranean.
History: 3 Crusader Castles, Gothic Abbey, oldest shipwreck in the Mediterranean in Kyrenia Museum. Ruins of ancient Salamis and much more.
Horseriding: 20 minutes away at Catalkoy. European standards.
Para Gliding. Go Karting.
Cycling: Mountain Bikes for Hire.
Nature: Famous for wild flowers, birds and butterflies.

A deposit of 20% is required on booking. Balance due 8 weeks before departure. A refundable security deposit of £150 is charged. This will be returned within 7 days of departure less deductions for any damage/breakages.

We have had a magnificent holiday on the island with nice weather and temperature and also the house was great. For sure it is in our top three anywhere now and we have stayed in a lot of houses! All four of us loved the pool and we lived most of the day either inside/outside near the pool or the great kitchen. We have some ideas to come back next year at the end of April, please let us know availability.
