Come and experience a true North Cypriot way of life, amongst the characters of this lovely village. Swim on still deserted beaches. The drive to the tip of the Karpas Peninsular will enthrall you. Explore off track and discover isolated beaches. Development is begining, in North Cyprus, but our tranquil village with its own olive press, new bakery, little shops, and restaurant is like stepping back 50 years. We have two bikes for you to use. A car is a necessity here. The nearest large town is historic Famagusta, 40 mins away. Many villages around us. Just 20 mins north and south to glorious beaches. Cycle, walk, pick flowers, just really relax. A special place to stay, and secret places to explore.

Notes on accommodation
All bedrooms are air conditioned / and heating for winter. Oil heaters and woodburners for the living room. There are verandahs around the house. We welcome children, but maybe more suitable for over 5, there is a drop from the verandahs of about 2ft, so would be unsuitable for toddlers.
Accessibility
We have ramps on both sides of the property, and wide doorways inside the house. Also the main bathroom is accessible easily for wheelchair users. A concrete path winds around the property. Gardens are unsuitable for wheelchair, but can be enjoyed from verandahs and pathway.
Outside
Built on an old olive grove, we have 4 ancient olive trees which give wonderful shade. Fig trees, peach trees and loquat trees. This is a young garden, we have planted oleander around the borders which will take a few years to grow over the stock fencing. Gravel areas with palms etc., The views are stunning from the garden overlooking olive groves to the Besparmark mountains. Wall and fencing surround the property.
Coast/Beach
20 mins (driving) to nearest small beach at Bogaz. Here there are 6 restaurants and little harbour. Also hotel with indoor swimming pool which our guests can pay and use. Many other beaches to choose from in the area. Most have a cafe/restaurant and sun beds. Tatislu and Kaplica our nearest northern beaches 30 mins drive, Bafra 20 mins and Yenierenkoy 35 mins, nearest southern beaches. Golden Beach, totally unspoilt and one of Europe's most photographed is one hour and a quarter drive away.
Travel
Car hire is essential. Flights operate into Ercan (North Cyprus, involving a touch down in Turkey, one and a quarter hours from the villa. Or flights direct from UK into Larnaca (Cyprus). This is the cheapest option, but involves a taxi to the border at Famagusta. We have excellent car hire company who collect guests and bring hire car.

A wonderful week in unique surroundings. I am returning with memories of the lovely wild Karpas, swimming in azure seas, eating bread straight from the wood fired oven, visiting the village school, cycling the lanes and of course meeting the lovely characters of the village, far too many to mention. I even got to love the 5am call to prayer! Thank you for introducing us to your little piece of heaven.
Nicole Jacob September 2007 - Just to say thankyou for our wonderful week in Buyukkonuk. All was fantastic - the house was great with everything and more we needed. It was so nice being in a village to catch a glimpse of local life. Everyone was so freindly and kind to us. Lois was wonderful too. We just wished we had had more time as the week went by in a flash but that just means we'll have to return to do all the things we couldn't this time. Kindest regards Nicole and Steve'
