Its name originates from the Carob tree, which lies in the colourful landscaped gardens. This villa is of a unique modern design and is considered to be in one of the most desirable areas of Northern Cyprus. Uninterrupted views of the Besparmak mountain range and the Mediterranean Sea make this a special location. Watch the sunset whilst enjoying a brandy sour from the roof terrace, or enjoy a quiet time hidden away from everyone else. Enjoy long lazy days in the Mediterranean sunshine. Villa Carob is suitable for families, couples and those whose interests include walking, dining out, historical ruins and a slower pace of life.
Outside
The garden has been perfectly landscaped to enjoy those lazy mornings and afternoons in the Mediterranean sun. Extensive terraces with ample garden furniture - 2 tables, chairs and parasols. Private 5m x 10m swimming pool, pool games and outside shower, sun loungers and cushions are provided for your enjoyment. Outdoor lighting, lanterns and pool lights to enhance your evening entertainment. BBQ.
Coast/Beach
The sea and mountains can be viewed from the front terraces.The nearest beaches are 1km away, and can be reached by walking or car. The local beach, the Shayna Beach club, has been completely refurbished to a high standard.Turtle beaches and other unspoilt beaches are easily accessible by car or boat trips.
Golf
The Korineum Golf and Country Club offering an 18 hole, international standard golf course designed by Arne Van Amerongen is open at Esentepe - a 15 minute drive from the villa. The Golf and Country Club also has a private clubhouse, public restaurant, bar and hotel facilities. Golfers enjoy the breathtaking views of the Besparmak mountain range as well as cool sea breezes during peak summer golf season. Course management offer both annual membership as well as daily green fees to accommodate residents and tourists alike. Several guests have played recently and have enjoyed the challenging course.
Skiing
Skiing is available in the Troodos Mountains.
Travel
Flights are available from all major UK airports to Ercan and Larnaca. Flights into Ercan have one stop in Turkey There are many charter and scheduled flights into Larnaca from nearly all UK airports. Please ring or email for more details. Villa Carob is 30 mins drive from Ercan and 1.5h drive from Larnaca. Car Hire can be arranged for collection from Ercan or taxi transfer is available and car delivered to villa. If flying into Larnaca, taxi transfer can be arranged. Ring or email for details.
Distances
The centre of Catalkoy village is a 5 min walk where local shops sell basic goods and fresh produce. Larger supermarkets are a 5 minute drive. There is a large open air stall selling a wide range of fresh fruit and vegetables at very reasonable prices. Kyrenia is 3km and Nicosia is a 30 min drive. There are many historical attractions and beaches within 5km radius - all just waiting to be enjoyed.
Further details
There are too many lovely restaurants in the area to describe them all, but the nearest one is about 1km and then you can find them where ever you go. There is a local bank in Catalkoy with a cash machine (English menus) and several in Kyrenia. Leisure activities include scuba diving, go-karting, quad biking, horse-riding, jeep safari, tandem gliding and turtle and bird watching.

Our stay at Villa Carob was all we could wish for, a lovely venue peaceful and quiet and yet within easy reach of shops and friendly peoples. Every morning I fetched fresh bread and fruit, and our family all had breakfast together outside in the warmth of the early morning sun shine. About the owner
We are the Garner family, Janet and John and our two grown up daughters, Catherine and Rebecca. We were visiting friends in northern Cyprus and arrived on a snowy February night. Having been collected from Gecitkale airport in an ageing charabanc, we were relayed to the Pia Bella Hotel over a dangerous and unmade mountain road, by an elderly driver who had never driven in the snow before! Fearing for our lives, we thought the end was nigh. However, we fell in love with the area and love it even more now that we have discovered more about it.

Why the owner chose a home in this location
We bought the villa in 2004, having searched the whole of northern Cyprus before deciding upon the village of Catalkoy. We loved the proximity to the mountains, the stunning sea views and a clean and tidy village bursting with charm, and local people who were eager to get to know friendly visitors, and keen to tell their stories. Knowing that we are a short distance away from bustling Kyrenia town, yet still have our own peaceful haven in Catalkoy, makes returning to the villa quite special. The villa is our second home and it has been furnished so that we have everything, and more besides, to make our holidays comfortable and enjoyable.
Unique benefits of the property
We wanted the villa to reflect the sunny Mediterranean, and have used both antique and modern furniture designed and made by highly skilled local craftsmen. Jewel colours in the interior furnishings and a spectacular Turkish light fitting reflect this.
We love the modern design, the clean lines and the large plot, which has enabled John to pursue his passion for gardening. He has spent many happy hours nurturing the varied plants and fruit trees and getting to know the Mediterranean way of gardening.
Crusader castles, turtle beaches, secret Roman harbours and the friendliest of people.
