Outside
The pleasant garden has olive trees, various flowers, herbs and a selection of young fruit trees, and borders a field with an attractive row of mature pine trees. It is possible to walk from here to orchards and beyond. There is a large tiled roof terrace with stunning views to sea and mountains. Access is via a spiral staircase from the pool and also a large staircase from the front of the house. There is garden furniture and a barbecue for dining outdoors. There are 6 comfortable sunbeds and mattresses. The private pool is 4m x 8m with steps and handrail and it has coloured underwater lights perfect for the evening! The pool and patio area has outdoor lighting.
Coast/Beach
The nearest beach is at the bottom of the hill in the village. It is 2 minutes by car. The beach has stony and sandy areas. Driving along the coast road a short distance to Demitris Taverna there is a sandy stretch where one can enjoy the beach and facilities. Another popular sandy beach is 10 minutes drive away near Latchi at Tsakis beach.
Golf
There are three golf clubs in the Paphos area with Tsada being the closest to the villa. Tsada golf course is approximately a half hour drive from the villa going towards Paphos. The other two are Aphrodite Hills and Secret Valley both situated nearer Paphos.
The Tsada Golf Club is set in the grounds of a 12th century monastery which lies in a gentle picturesque valley, 550m above sea level. Created by Donald Steel, this is an 18 hole par 72, 6208m course designed in two loops of nine. It offers superb variety as no two holes are the same and is suitable for players of all abilities. The fairways are lined with thousands of trees and scattered with sand bunkers claiming any misplaced shots. Undulating greens have perfect putting surfaces. The club-house facilities include a restaurant, bar, changing rooms, with showers and saunas, swimming pool, driving range and a putting green.
Skiing
Skiing is possible in the Troodos mountains during the winter, usually until March. There are four runs for beginners through to advanced skiers. Equipment can be hired. Today many hundreds of Cypriots and perhaps as many foreigners enjoy the wonderful sport of skiing every winter on the beautiful slopes of Mt Olympus.
Travel
The nearest airport is Paphos which is a 45 minute drive. Car hire is essential. Arrangements can be made to be met at the airport and driven to the villa and back to the airport if required; this is included in the price of the hire car by the local company we recommend.
The other airport on the island is Larnaca, which is a 2 hour (motorway) drive to Paphos.
Distances
The nearest town is Polis which is 8km away. The village of Latchi is 10km away, with its fish restaurants and marina. The conservation area of Akamas peninsula begins on the road from Latchi to the baths of Aphrodite.
Paphos is 40km, Troodos 87km, Limassol 98km, Larnaca 164km, and Nicosia is 179km away. Ayia Napa is 204km away - thankfully!
The golf course at Tsada is 30km away.
Further details
Walking distance from the house is a village shop selling groceries. At the bottom of the hill by the sea is a kiosk, selling snacks, drinks and some groceries. The nearest supermarkets are in Polis.
There are a selection of tavernas and bars within a short drive. Polis has a greater selection of bars and restaurants as does Latchi.
The banks are located in Polis, most of which have ATMs.

Owner profile
About the owner
I am a professional English woman and live in Somerset but am increasingly spending more time in Cyprus. I have been travelling to Cyprus for many years and have loved it since my first visit many years ago. It has a certain magic for me that has never gone away. The sound of bouzouki music still stirs my heart; it is the Greekness of it that I really love. The warmth and hospitality of the people is legendary and this is what makes the place special.
Year purchased: 2003
Why the owner chose a home in this location
It was my dream to buy some land and have a house in the Polis area which is still authentic and full of citrus groves. The scent of orange blossom is heady in the summer and in this part of Cyprus it is always green. I realised this dream in 2003 and Villa Rosa is the result.
My village is only a 45 minute drive from Paphos airport on an easy road. There are lots of interesting places within easy reach and the scenery is stunning all around Polis bay.
Unique benefits of the property
The village shop is very near to my house. The big supermarket in Polis is great for a big shop. There are several good tavernas within a short distance and there is always a warm welcome. At the back of my house lies the forest and one can have lovely walks through the pine trees and I love to see the wild herbs growing there. It is so peaceful. One can drive right through on an easy track and enjoy the views along the way. It is good to take a picnic in the summer. I particularly like treating myself to some spa treatments at nearby Miliou village where there is a fabulous converted monastery. For a special treat try champagne cocktails at the Anassa hotel watching the sunset, for a budget version try my roof terrace with the coloured lights switched on in the pool below!
