'Annie's House' is situated only 20 minutes away from Paphos Airport. The house is a fully equipped family home. There is a large shared swimming pool which is located at the back of our house. The 2 bedrooms have air-conditioning which in the summer is a must, there is no extra charge for the air-conditioning. In the colder months of the year they can be used as warm air heaters. The villas living room has a coal effect gas fire which is very effective. Sky television can receive UK programmes. The villa's telephone can be used to make and receive local calls, international calls can be received but is blocked for outgoing calls. Beach towels, sun beds and a hair drier are provided. Pissouri village has three banks, several shops and many tavernas. Guests can be met at Paphos or Larnaca airport and conveyed to the villa for a fee. Currently about Euro 45 for a Paphos pick up more from Larnaca. See 'further details' about the free car.

For each booking the log effect gas fire is provided with 2 x 10Kg full gas bottles. Any more gas to be purchased at guests expense.

Sky TV can be temperamental in Cyprus. Sometimes the picture can break up. When it does, nothing can be done about it. Sorry.

Changeover day
Unless by prior arrangement guests are expected to vacate the villa by 12 noon on the day of departure. The owners are very accommodating as to arrival days and departure times.

Bedrooms: Both bedrooms have air conditioning and ceiling fans, and have fitted wardrobes. The rear bedroom has a double bed with patio doors which lead out to a back courtyard. The larger front bedroom has 2 single beds.
Bathrooms: There is a bath with an overhead shower. UK type toilet and a washbasin. The solar panels provide plenty of hot water, but in the winter there is an immersion heater to boost the deficit. There is also an electric wall heater.
Kitchen: Fully fitted and equipped with cooker, fridge/freezer, microwave, toaster, coffee percolators x 2, cafeteria and washing machine.
Living Rooms: There is a 3-piece suite, dining table which seats 6, coffee table, TV with Sky television. Wi Fi FConnection. Log effect gas fire. There is a spacious balcony with stunning views of the Troudos Mountains and the sea.
Other: There is a small paved front garden which has potted plants. The small rear private courtyard can be used for sitting out in or hanging washing.

Towels and linen are provided for 4 guests with 1 change of bedding provided. Guests may launder their own bedding and towels during their stay if extra is needed. The villa is cleaned before arrival and after departure.

Notes on accommodation
Annie’s House Wi Fi. We have a pay as you go Wi Fi connection at Annie’s House facilitated by means of an antenna on our roof. We can receive Pissouri-NET which is provided by our village internet café. Air time can be bought from the internet café at the following rates. 1 hour: €2. 1 week: €10. 2 weeks: €15
4 weeks: €25 (this information correct at time of printing and like all things may change). The weekly rate gives 24 hour usage. Without the roof antenna the Wi Fi signal strength in the villa is very weak. You can plug in to your lap top / notebook, the EDIMAX USB dongle attached to the antenna cable by the window to receive the enhanced signal. You may need to firstly down load the EDIMAX EW-7711USn driver into your device. This driver is available on the USB memory stick attached to the EDIMAX dongle. If you have problems with your computer or the Wi Fi connection you could have a word with Markos at the internet café. Mick & Anne (March 2011)

Accessibility
Annie's House is an 'upside down house'. The two bed rooms and the bath room are on the ground floor and the living room and kitchen are on the first floor so that the stunning views may be better appreciated.

Coast/Beach
Pissouri beach boasts a blue flag and is approximately 3 miles from the house. It takes about 10 minutes to reach by car. It is possible to walk (about 1 hour) downhill, but it is harder to walk back. The beach is a popular tourist attraction with many shops and restaurants. The public beach although popular is never crowded and is safe for children. There are many water sports available at the bay. There is a free free car park and on street parking.

Travel
Arrive at either Larnaca airport or Paphos. It takes about a hour and a half drive from Larnaca and 20 minutes from Paphos. Limassol and Paphos are about the same distance from Pissouri. It takes about half an hour to each place on the motorway that runs past Pissouri.

Further details
A car is almost a must in Cyprus as there are few public bus services on the island. Driving is the same side as the UK and all the signs are in English. Pissouri village has nearly everything that you need for a holiday without a car. Language is not a problem in Cyprus as almost everyone speaks English. Just a bit of procedural small print. The rent for the structure of the villa is €75 per week throughout the year. The actual cost of renting the villa with furniture, white goods, bedding, satellite TV all paid utilities, swimming pool, cleaning, gardening, food welcome packs and all other maintenance. Is as detailed in our listed prices and guests do not have the option of opting out of the extras and renting the empty shell of the villa. We have been forced to break down our costing by the Pissouri village office who is taxing the gross rental income on all properties in the village area. They are adamant that the tax will be on gross income regardless of the extras provided by the property owner. This 'small print' does not effectively affect guests renting our home. It is an accountancy matter. Many of our guests have asked us if we would include our car in with the rental of our home. We have never done this and feel that we should explain why we don’t so as to promote understanding and prevent disappointment. Most private car insurance has a clause in it that the vehicle is not to be used for hire or reward. Hire or reward can be in many forms. Usually in the paying of a slightly higher rent for the property. I worked in the insurance and prosecution business in the UK for nearly 30 years and do know what I am talking about. We don’t wish our guests or ourselves to risk the prospect of bankruptcy over the cause of a death or serious injury so we don’t do it. Passing a guest off as a friend may get one passed a random police document check but not passed an insurance investigator. So once again, sorry no free car with the villa.

Booking notes
A 25% deposit is required at once to confirm the booking. The balance is due at least six weeks before arrival. The payment is not refundable and it is recommended that travel insurance is taken out to cover any cancellation problems. Payment may be by cheque or bank transfer in UK Pounds.

About the owner
Hi, we are Mick & Anne; we bought our house in 2003 with the intention of moving in full time the following year. Retiring to Cyprus. Due to one UK commitment after another that move was delayed. Finally we were ready to make the move in early 2009, when the worldwide recession took its toll on UK house prices. So here we are with a foot in each camp. A home needs people in it, so we let our home in Cyprus out to caretakers who can enjoy its comforts, views and the life. As soon as the housing market picks up we will be in. Sorry.

Why the owner chose a home in this location
We first came to Cyprus to visit friends and after our first visit we bought their house from them. It seemed like a good idea as we were coming up for retirement. What’s not to like!

Unique benefits of the property
Our home Annie's house is well situated near Paphos airport. Half way between Limassol and Paphos with the motorway close by. Fantastic views every day. Brilliant pool and a lovely village setting. The beach is just down the road.
