Notes on accommodation
The house, though simply constructed, is spacious with a large entrance hall, to the left of which is a spacious kitchen with a large cedarwood table and 6 chairs. To the right of the hall is a very large bedroom with a king-sized bed, bedside chests and lights, linen chest, cot, wardrobe and daybed.; It stays cool in the summer, especially when the shutters are closed and the air-conditioning is on; Stairs lead up to the bathroom and spacious first floor landing, off which is a further large bedroom with king-sized bed, wardrobe and linen chest, and the terrace sitting room leading onto the large terrace overlooking the sea.

Accessibility
The house is not suitable for people with mobility problems as it is reached via steps leading up from the harbour [or down from the Loza].

Outside
The large terrace provides ample space for sunbathing, reading a book under the large awning. If it gets too hot you can always retreat to the terrace sitting room and to enjoy the view or watch TV: Behind the house is a pretty [totally enclosed] garden with a mandarine orchard and a marble patio with a table and chairs. This makes the garden ideal for children.

Coast/Beach
Bol Beach is only 30 metres from the house. Zlatni Rat [The Golden Horn beach] is 1km from Bol along the marble path; the secluded Monastery beach with its extremely good seafood restaurant (in a restored fisherman's house) is 5 minutes walk from the house along the coastal path. This is especially good for families with young children.

Special interest holidays
Bol is famous for its watersports including diving, kayaking, water skiiing, jet skiing, wind-surfing at Zlatni Rat (the Golden Horn, Croatia's most famous beach which is just outside the village of Bol) or trips to the neighbouring islands. The lovely Monastery beach with its restaurant in an old fisherman's house, is 5 minutes walk away around the coastal path. There is a tennis club not far from Bol, and it is possible to hire boats, motor bikes and quad bikes for trips around the island. You can book to visit neighbouring islands for a day trip and fish picnic on the beach from Bol Harbour.

Travel
Brac Airport (6km from house). Cesna flights direct from Split Airport to Brac can be arranged although Croatia Airlines provide an excellent service to Split Airport. This is 45 km away including a 40 minute ferry trip from Supetar to Split Harbour, and a 20-25 min. trip to the Airport. Car hire is nice, though not essential as there are plenty of buses travelling around the island from Supetar, the pretty little Jadrolinija Ferry Port.

Distances
No distances are great on Brac because the roads are excellent. Brac is not a large island, and it is fun buzzing around the island visiting the little seaside villages and towns.

Further details
You can find most things in Bol, including bars, restaurants, bakeries, post office, pharmacy, post office [for inexpensive phone calls], bank, internet shop, up-market harbourside Cocktail Bar where you can gaze out to sea and sip Gin Slings under a straw rotunda in the heat of the day; The Golden Horn beach, a peninsula of fine shale reaching out into the sea, is a very popular location. Here, you can retreat into the pine woods and the restaurant at lunchtime or recline on the comfy beach recliners under an umbrella.

Owner profile

About the owner
As a family, we have known and loved Croatia for many years [we had a wonderful Dalmation dog for over sixteen years, so you could say we are fans of Dalmatia!]. Croatia is like a second home and we take the opportunity whenever possible to escape to the sun, crystal clear sea and friendly people of Croatia.

Year purchased: 2004

Why the owner chose a home in this location
When we found our house in Bol it was a dream come true. We had seen pictures of the house but could not believe it would still be for sale when we arrived in Croatia. We were lucky! The house is right in the centre of the village [voted the most popular resort town in Croatia a few years ago], and although the fishermen still take their little boats out early in the morning to fish, Bol is a lively, happening place with something for everyone to do. Young people especially like it because of the new nightclub set back from the beach at the Golden Horn. There are regular flights by Croatia Airlines and British Airways to Split.

Unique benefits of the property
We love the fabulous sea views, the beaches and the pleasure of the garden behind the house. Because of its air-conditioning and double-glazing the house is peaceful. The food is good too! Harbour House is right at the hub of everything and the sea is only a few metres from the front door [with the shutters open the sunshine is reflected off the sea onto the ceilings!] A few more steps and you are on the harbour, with its large range of bars, boutique shops and restaurants.
