Situated in a small hamlet 2km from the town centre, the apartments are modern and spacious with all the comforts of home. Quietly located, they offer the perfect base for an active holiday or for one spent lazing by the pool. Istria is the largest peninsula in the Adriatic and has over 400km of shoreline with beach resorts, small working fishing ports and harbour-side restaurants. The Istrian interior is dotted with stone houses set in green rolling hills and valleys where farmers harvest grapes, hunt for truffles and cultivate their orchards. A perfect all-round holiday destination.

Notes on prices
Prices are in Euros, per apartment per week. Apartments can be booked October - May. Please call for prices and to discuss your requirements. Please Note: Croatia is not in the Euro zone. The currency is the Croatian Kuna.

Changeover day
Changeover day is Saturday although we will try to be as flexible as possible.

Notes on accommodation
The apartments are built to a high standard and are especially suitable for families with children, family groups or friends who wish to holiday together but have separate accommodation. A cot and highchair are available upon request. The apartments are partly air conditioned and heated for winter use.

Outside
There is a shared pool (12m x 6m) set in an attractive terraced area bordered by trees and shrubs. There is a barbecue, sun-loungers, chairs and tables for outdoor dining. There is a shady parking area in front of the apartments.

Coast/Beach
The main beach areas of Plava and Zelena Laguna are a 5-10 minute car ride away. Other beaches along the coast are within easy reach by car all offering clean, safe swimming with beaches attractively located in wooded coves. Nearly every activity you might want to enjoy is located along the coast from Porec to Funtana: horse riding, tennis, basketball, volleyball, windsurfing, water-skiing, scuba diving, parasailing, boat rentals and canoeing.

Travel
There are several operators flying to Croatia and northern Italy. Ryanair fly to Pula (40 minutes), Trieste (2 hours) and Venice Treviso (2 1/2 hours). Easyjet fly to Rijeka (approx 1 hour), Venice Marco Polo (2 1/2 hours) and Ljubljana (approx 2 1/2 hours). Thomsonfly fly to Pula (40 minutes). There is a daily catamaran service from Venice to Porec during the summer months. A car is essential.

Distances
Zelena Laguna (4km) beaches, watersports, nightlife. Groznjan (30km) tiny town of crooked lanes and leafy squares filled with galleries and craft shops. Pula (50km) Roman Amphitheatre. Istarske Toplice (20km) Health and Beauty Spa. Motovun (25km) Medieval hilltop town with narrow cobbled streets, bars, tavernas, art galleries, Venetian architecture and magnificent views. Rovinj (20km) active fishing port with cobbled streets, bars, cafes and views over the islands.

Further details
Porec and the surrounding area offers something for everyone, the main Roman street, which is lined with shops and perfect for afternoon browsing, bisects the compact old town. There is a large supermarket on the outskirts of town whilst the centre of Porec has smaller shops, banks, post office, internet cafe, and tourist office. English is widely spoken, as is Italian and German. The food is largely Italian in influence and there are some great places to eat, with pasta, pizza, grilled fish and salads widely served together with delicious local Istrian and Croatian specialities. There are many harbour-side bars and restaurants to enjoy during the day, and at night Porec offers a variety of restaurants and bars plus a casino. If you head inland from the coast, you will discover the Istrian interior with its magnificent countryside dotted with stone villages. This area of rolling hills is perfect for walking or cycling (bikes can be hired in Porec), and a stop-off at one of the many 'agroturizam' farms to sample home-made pasta, cheeses, wine, farm-dried ham and local truffles is a must.

A non-returnable 20% deposit is required at the time of booking - the balance to be paid 8 weeks prior to departure.

Many thanks for everything; we had a great stay, and thought the apartment was excellent. Location terrific and we loved having fields of fruit and veg growing about. Pool brilliant - and delightful having swallows flitting through to dip their beaks in the water! Thanks too for all your helpful ideas; we must have gone to just about all the places you mentioned. Thanks again.

We stayed at Portun Apartments last year and the year before, and by popular request we would like to come back again for the fourth year running, as we had such a great time!
