Set among vineyards and olive groves in the rolling hills around Motovun is this picturesque converted barn. From the terraces and windows is a panoramic view across the Mirna Valley to Motovun and beyond. The apartments in rustic stone and wood style have modern bathrooms and kitchenettes as well as their own terraces. Three generations of the same family grow their own produce and keep dogs, cats, donkeys, cows, rabbits, hens and even a wild boar. All meals are made from homegrown produce and breakfast consists of homemade bread with jam or dried ham and farm eggs. This is an authentic experience of the Istrian country. English is spoken and the friendly family are delighted to lay on wine tastings or guided truffle hunting trips for their guests. The apartments have kitchenettes with fridge, cooker and sink although the cheap and magnificent farmhouse cooking renders it redundant apart from keeping the drinks cool.
Pets are welcome.
Outside
Outside there is a very pretty terrace at 1st floor level where meals can be taken, as well as the main terrace which goes with the farmhouse restaurant.
Coast/Beach
Porec, which is a major holiday resort with every facility, is a very pretty half hour drive. All around Porec are magnificent swimming beaches.
Travel
Fly Ryanair to Trieste or Pula. Easyjet to LLubljana. Hire car is from £160 per week.
