Our house is 200 years old and has been completely renovated to a very high standard. It is arranged on four floors, with plenty of space, excellent facilities, and stylish decoration. Everything is top quality -the kitchen, the bathrooms, the beds, and even the pure goosedown pillows! The house is in Kut, which is a hamlet on the far side of Vis bay. It has lovely Venetian architecture, cobbled streets, old clocktowers, bougainvillea and many of the best restaurants on the island. A holiday in Vis will appeal to those who love to find places before they've become too commercialised. It has beauty, fine architecture, history, great diving, sailing, beaches, attractive countryside, vineyards, good food, and a relaxed friendliness. It's also one of the few islands where the agriculture is totally organic.

Accessibility
The house is on four floors, and is not suitable for people with mobility problems.
Outside
There is no garden, but the house has two good-sized terraces. The lower terrace has large potted plants plus overhead vines and bougainvillea offering a little shade and has cane chairs and a table for relaxing. The upper terrace has a dining table with 6 chairs for having breakfast or drinks in the evening. You can also use it for dining, as a change from the dining area. We also provide 4 sunbeds which can be used on either of the terraces, or can be taken in front of the house to a private part of the quayside.
Coast/Beach
You can walk out of the front door and swim in the crystal waters of the bay. There is a pebble beach 10 mins walk away, and another pebble beach with a beach cafe/bar and some watersports 20 mins walk away. There is a sandy beach 10 mins drive away.
Travel
Many cheap flights to Split airport ( Easyjet, Flybe, Croatian Airlines, Thomsonfly, Excel, Thomas Cook). There is an excellent airport coach to the ferry port in Split, three or four ferries a day taking approx one to two hours.
Distances
15 min walk into Vis Town (or 5 min cycle ride). You can catch a local bus to the other main village on the island, Komiza, which is 20 mins away. The Blue Caves are a one hour boat ride away on the island of Bisevo.
Further details
There is a bread shop and a grocery shop in Kut, plus several lovely restaurants, and a cocktail bar. For the bank, post office, more restaurants and more grocery shops (no big supermarkets, ha!) you go into Vis Town.

About the owner
The owners: we are a middle-aged couple with teenagers who spend around two months of the year at our house. The children love it too. The house: We bought it in 2005 and at the time we joked that all we'd bought were two walls - it was such a wreck! But we'd scrambled to the top of the building and once we'd seen the views there was no going back. Over the next year the house was completely renovated. We kept as much of the character as we could, with beams, shutters and stonework. The rentals: we hadn't intended to rent the house; this was just an accident that has since grown. So when we fitted it out we put in the best of everything, real quality. But in fact we've had such great people renting, many of them return year after year, and they tell us they love it as much as we do.

Why the owner chose a home in this location
We're not keen on holiday locations that are very commercialised, so when we found the island of Vis we just fell in love with it. It has so much charm. It hasn't been spoiled by the usual big hotels or villa parks. It's just a lovely Mediterranean island as it always was, but with a few more boats and yachts in the harbour and few more restaurants.
Unique benefits of the property
The house may not have a garden, but it does have two terraces to choose from! They both have fantastic views and you can arrange them as you choose - we tend to use the top terrace for breakfast and drinks, and the lower one for sunbathing. Because we go to the house regularly we try to provide everything you'll need. There's a pile of beach towels, an "emergencies" tub with odd shampoos, toothpastes, sewing kits etc, most of the staple foods you might need such as flour, salt, sugar, pasta etc, plus a hairdryer. If you're from the UK you'll be pleased to know there's a kettle and a teapot! And for those going very early or very late in the season we provide umbrellas and some macs/fleeces just in case of showers.
