'Failte' is a garden level apartment so there are no stairs to negotiate and the Dalmatian promenade beside the sea with its many pebble beaches can be reached by a quiet almost flat roadway. The one apartment overhead is occupied by a friendly Croatian family of three and the two adjoining apartments are used for holidays by the Croatian owners who live in Germany. In 2006 'Failte' was totally refurbished to a high standard and is really more a home from home than your typical holiday let.

Changeover day
Saturday is our preferred changeover day but this is flexible.
Arrival time : 5pm. Departure time :10 pm.

Bedrooms: The master bedroom en-suite has a queen size double bed, a large wardrobe and a dressing table.
The large second bedroom has twin beds and similar furnishing.
The third bedroom is smaller but has full sized twin beds, a wardrobe and dressing table.
Bathrooms: The en-suite and main bathrooms each have separate hot water boilers ensuring adequate supply for showers etc.
Kitchen: The fully equipped kitchen includes cooker, hob, fridge/freezer, dishwasher, microwave, coffee percolator, electric kettle, toaster and juicer. There's an under sink water heater, glasses and tableware for 8 persons and an oval dining table and 6 chairs.
Utility Room: The utility room has a toilet and wash-hand-basin, washing machine, iron and ironing board.
Here you will also find a child's bucket and spade and some bowls. There is a court for playing the French game of boules near the Trstenica sandy beach.
Living Rooms: The living room has TV and DVD player as well as a radio/CD/tape recorder. A selection of DVDs Videos and books are there for your enjoyment.
Air-con units are installed in the living room/kitchen and the sitting room while fans are in all bedrooms.
Other: The cozy separate sitting room has free WiFi internet access, TV, DVD and VCR.
This room also has air-con unit.
Cleaning/towels/
linen/maid service:
Bed-linen and towels (except beach-towels) are provided and changed weekly. Maid service weekly.
Child minding and babysitting can be arranged if needed.

Accessibility
'Failte' is a garden-level apartment so there are no stairs to negotiate. Also the promenade can be reached in two or three minutes via an almost flat roadway. While the kitchen/living-room is accessible by wheelchair via the terrace patio-doors the other apartment doors are not wheelchair friendly.

Outside
The front patio, shaded by a mature olive tree has a dining table for 6/8. There are tables and chairs also on the front terrace which has shade from orange, lemon and mandarin trees. The apartment overhead is permanently occupied by a very nice, friendly, helpful Croatian couple with one little girl.

Coast/Beach
Several small Dalmatian pebble beaches and 2 jetties are less than 3 minutes walking distance on quiet cul-de-sac road. One of the finest sandy beaches in Croatia, Trstenica (1,500 m.) is but a further 3 minutes walk. The water is crystal clear with abundant sea-life. Snorkeling, scuba diving, sailboarding, fishing and boating are all available locally.

Special interest holidays
Failte, our Dalmatian beach apartment in Orebic is very suitable for people of the older generation, for families with young children, particularly in May/June before the crowds arrive and again in September/October when the water is at its warmest, the restaurants uncrowded, the grapes ready for harvesting and the new season's wines available for tasting. The scenic 3 km long shaded promenade by the seashore is very special for a stroll at any time of the day (or night).

Travel
From Dubrovnik airport Orebic is less than 2 hours drive on the Adriatic highway; by-passing Dubrovnik, it is an easy, scenic drive.
Split is about 3 1/2 hours drive via Ston or one can take the car ferry from Ploce to Trpanj; then 20 minutes to Orebic.
Transport from airport can be arranged and a car is not really essential.

Distances
The Peljesac peninsula is noted for vine growing and the locally produced wines, Postup and Dingac, are highly rated.
Korcula -a mini Dubrovnik- is reached by a frequent 15 minute ferry ride. From there excursions are available to the famous islands of Mljet, and Hvar and by fast catamaran to Dubrovnik.
If you take the ferry from Trpanj to Ploce (1 hour ) Medjugorje in Bosnia/Hercogovina is only 50 minute's drive.

Further details

About the owner
My wife Sheila and I are originally from Cork in Ireland where we owned an ran an independent hostel, catering for the budget traveller. We are now retired and have lived in sunny Andorra for many years. Since the year 2000 we have been visiting Medjugorje in Bosnia/Hercegovina annually on pilgrimage.

Why the owner chose an apartment in this location
Frequently driving along the stunningly beautiful Croatian coastline, we soon fell in love with the country and its friendly people. In 2005 we began to search for a suitable holiday home and in February 2006 the contract was signed for the apartment we now call 'Failte' which in Gaelic means 'Welcome'. The location was perfect; on a quiet road, 120 metres from the sea, with its own garden and parking. The only problem, it was a wreck; so it had to be totally refurbished. This was done quickly and efficiently and we moved in just after Easter 2006.

Unique benefits of the property
Supermarkets, banks and churches are close by and the ferry to Korcula leaves frequently from the harbour, taking 15 minutes for the crossing.
