This Caribbean family home was given a complete renovation to turn it into a luxurious holiday retreat in a peaceful corner of the Simpson Bay Lagoon. Outfitted to the highest standard, it is the perfect base for a no-stress vacation, whether relaxing under the coconut trees surrounding the private infinity pool, playing golf by the ocean, or sampling a French twist on Caribbean food at one of the nearby French-run gourmet restaurants.

Notes on accommodation
Ideally suited for children; our co-owners use it regularly for family holidays with their young children. Safe swimming in the lagoon and surrounding beaches. A cot and high chair are available on request.
Outside
Set in 3.5 acres of tropical garden down a long, gated drive, with private infinity pool (10m x 10m, 30' x 30') on the large deck just outside the house. A private dock is just below the deck for swimming or mooring a boat (maximum draft 8'). Barbecue, sun loungers, etc. all on the deck.
Coast/Beach
Several beautiful sandy beaches are within 5 minutes drive, and dozens more within 15 minutes. Some of the best children's snorkeling and swimming on the island is only 5 minutes away, at Mullet Bay.
Golf
The Mullet Bay 18 hole championship golf course is about 5 minutes away and is still open, despite the Mullet Bay resort being closed.
Travel
The Princess Juliana International Airport is a 15 minute drive away. A hire car is strongly recommended, these are available in the concourse on arrival at the airport or we can arrange one for you.
Distances
Marigot, the main town on the French side, is filled with restaurants and boutique shops (as well as the nearest good French supermarket), and is about 10 minutes drive away. Ten minutes in the opposite direction is the small resort town in Mullet Bay with casinos, a few shops and the world-famous Sunset Beach bar, right at the end of the runway! A little further along is Simpson Bay, for bars, more restaurants and nightlife.

After spending a number of years in the Caribbean, we've now returned to England, where we live in Kent with our two young children.

Why the owner chose a home in this location
We bought a house on the dual-nationality island of St Martin/Sint Maarten because it has everything that's great about the Caribbean in one small island - fantastic restaurants on the French side, great nightlife on the Dutch, decent golf, beautiful beaches with warm, azure waters, world-class sailing and one of the top diving destinations in the world, Saba, only a 10-minute flight away. The border between the two sides is marked only by a simple sign, but with two parallel governments and cultures, St Martin/Sint Maarten is a unique jewel in the Caribbean.
Unique benefits of the property
The property itself is right on the border between the French and Dutch sides, and is one of the few on the warm, still waters of the lagoon. Sitting in the jacuzzi or lounging by the pool, watching the sun go down over the water with a rum punch in hand, is a luxury not to be missed. Even the air-conditioned private gym has a lagoon view!
Being located on the border, the villa is about 10 minutes away from the restaurants and boutiques of Marigot in one direction, and the same distance from the golf course, casinos and nightlife of Simpson Bay in the other, with a bountiful choice of beaches in both directions. On such a small island, nothing is more than half an hour's drive away!
