White Palms is a luxury 3 bedroom house situated on the Royal Westmoreland Golf and Country Club. Recently built and both luxuriously appointed and well-kept. It is one of the Royal Villas in a spacious 'horseshoe' of villas around a 30m common pool area with well-maintained and verdant gardens. The villa has sea views and is in a tranquil and peaceful setting. The 2,500 square feet villa is superbly furnished and spacious. There are 3 en-suite bedrooms (2 doubles/1 twin) sleeping 6. The open plan living area is on the first floor with kitchen, dining area and sitting room. There are flat screen TVs in the living area and bedrooms with cable TV; also computer with broadband connection, Bose hi-fi and iPod docking. Balcony has dining area and general seating with fine views over the Caribbean, communal pool and gardens. Terrace has private pool, sun beds and dining area. Maid service six half days per week. Access as guest to Royal Westmoreland facilities.

Notes on prices
Prices are based on three-bedroom occupancy and are per night in US Dollars. Discounts available for longer periods, for last minute bookings (subject to availability) and for two-bedroom occupancy (except over the Christmas/New Year period). Two-bedroom occupancy per night is US$650, $350, $400, $350 and $1,500 respectively for the periods shown above.
Changeover day
Changeover date is preferably Saturday but there is flexibility depending on other bookings.

Notes on accommodation
Bedrooms have air-conditioning and ceiling fans. Living area has high ceiling with fans. Children welcome but note private pool. Cots can be arranged at extra cost.
Accessibility
Unsuitable for people with mobility problems as there are stairs.
Outside
Super south-facing terraced area in Coral stone. Private pool (8 metre). Sunbeds and chairs, dining area for 6. Small BBQ available. Steps down to common area and short walk to common 30 metre pool (for serious swimmers!). Verdant planting (good for Hummingbirds) including palm trees and bougainvillea. Villa is semi-detached with neighbour set back to the side, good screening. The entire Royal Westmoreland estate is gated with security services.
Coast/Beach
The nearest beaches on the Platinum west coast are a few minutes drive away. Renters can enjoy use of the Royal Westmoreland Beach Club at Mullins (a 5 minute drive or high season shuttle bus service from the Royal Villas security gate). The Beach Club features free sun loungers (with sumptuous mattresses), beach towels, safe bathing, an Indulgence Spa, designated parking, on-beach drink service, and the Mullins beach bar and restaurant. Water sports available.
Golf
A 7,045 yard, par 72 championship course of unrivalled beauty and consistently ranked around the top 30 of best golf courses in the world outside North America. Designed by Robert Trent Jones Junior it is for the exclusive use of members, their guests and villa renters. US Masters Champion Ian Woosnam, who is a home owner on Royal Westmoreland, says that the par 3s are some of the best he has played anywhere in the world. You can see the sea from very hole. The elegant and imposing clubhouse, which was fully refurbished in 2008, has sweeping views over the golf course towards the Caribbean sea. Sandy Lane and Barbados golf courses are nearby.
Travel
Grantley Adams International airport with its many direct connections is a 45 minute drive. Discounted car rental rates are available through the owners with collection/drop off either at the airport or the villa.
Distances
Holetown is only a 5 minute drive away with supermarket, post office, petrol, shops, bank etc. Many of the restaurants on the west coast are only 5-10 minutes drive away. Taxis can be arranged through the security gate. Mullins beach club is also 5 minutes drive. The clubhouse and gym are 2 minutes drive or 10 minutes walk from the villa. Buggies (seat 4) can be hired from Royal Westmoreland for use in the estate. The island is small (21 miles by 14 miles) so all attractions are not far away.
Further details
Barbados has some fine restaurants, many right on the beach, ranging from upmarket ones such as the Cliff (regularly included in the World's best 50), Lone Star and the Banjan Blue at Sandy Lane. Within a 10 minute drive from the villa there are probably around 20 fine dining experiences and many less expensive venues. Full details in the villa. In the high season it is best to book the most popular restaurants to secure a beach side table (ask owners should you need advice).
There is tax free shopping for visitors in Holetown or in Bridgetown (30 minute drive). There are many attractions on the island including gardens (such as Andromeda and Flower Forest), Harrison Caves, and several old houses to visit. Again, full details in the villa.

Thank you for letting us rent your gorgeous home in Barbados. We all had a wonderful time and were wonderfully looked after by Cherry, your housekeeper. Everything was so seamless and easy, it made for a truly relaxing week. You never know we may well be back (here's hoping!) - July 2010.
Loved the use of the computer and wifi, when it rained we spent a lot of time on Facebook and email. The house was very comfortable and we very much enjoyed our stay - August 2010.

About the owner
We live in Surrey and have grown up twin daughters who enjoy joining us at Royal Westmoreland. We usually spend around 10 weeks a year in Barbados. I'm lucky to work part-time with a couple of directorships which allows me if necessary to work from our Bajan home using the computer and broadband connection. We are starting to make some good friends there and really enjoy the facilities, especially the golf course, clubhouse and beach facility. We are building up a library of books and DVDs which we are very happy to share with our guests. To celebrate special occasions we love dining out at one of the wonderful local restaurants. Whilst dining out at Zacchio's in August we were fortunate to witness a turtle coming up the beach to lay its eggs! Barbados is full of pleasant surprises!

Why the owner chose a home in this location
We had been to Barbados several times on holiday and loved the island because of its climate, happy people, and the quality of its restaurants. The island also has a reputation as a safe and welcoming place.
Royal Westmoreland appealed because of its world class golf course and the family oriented facilities such as gym, tennis, kid's club and the wonderful beach facility. The staff are all very welcoming.
The lushness of this tropical island is marvellous with hummingbirds, green monkeys, fireflies, palm trees making a great contrast with home in the UK.
Unique benefits of the property
At the rental price level of our villa on Royal Westmoreland we are one of the only ones with its own private pool. Being recently built the interior and furnishings are fresh and luxurious, the interior having been designed by interior designers, Archer's, in Speightstown.
