Owner profile
About the owner
About the owners. We are Francine and Roger Waddell, and live close to the sea at Broadstairs in Kent. We visited Barbados for the first time in 2000 as our “Millennium Treat” and fell in love with the Island, the people and the climate immediately. We visited every year after that, trying out different rental properties on each visit. We quickly got to know the whole island as we toured around in our little hire car, and gradually narrowed down to our favourite location.
By 2004, we decided that we would like to buy our own place, and set about viewing properties for sale on each occasion we visited the island. In 2006, we happened across a property that we fell in love with in Mullins. After a total refurbishment inside and out, we now rent it out to share the experince with others.
Year purchased: 2006
Why the owner chose a home in this location
Mullins is about a 45minute drive from the modern International Airport. The garden is shared with six other similar properties and has a shared pool. We have a gardener who tends the flowers and lawns and keeps things tidy. It is set on the first ridge overlooking the Caribbean Sea.The fabulous local beach at Mullins Bay at the bottom of our road, just a few minutes walk away, is considered to be one of the best on the island. There is a Beach Bar and Restaurant, and a small beach kiosk that also hires out sun beds and umbrellas. There is usually a raft out to sea and a choice of water sports available at the far end of the bay. The sand is beautiful and the sea gentle and warm, although like all seaside places, when the wind blows at certain times of year, swimming can be unsafe!
Unique benefits of the property
A Spa is situated opposite the entrance to the restaurant, belonging to the Royal Westmoreland Beach Club, with massage, boutique and hairdresser facilities available to non residents. Alternatively, we have golf clubs within a short drive away, for those who feel more energetic, or you can always book a boat trip. If you want absolute peace and tranquillity, just take a short walk (Approx 200 metres) around the bay northwards, and you arrive at Gibbes Beach, where there are no beach bars, chairs or umbrellas, just sand and palm trees and the odd swimmer or luxury cruiser! There is a small town in both directions from Mullins, just a short bus or car ride away, with restaurants, banks, supermarkets and all you will need while you are on holiday. If you have any questions just e-mail me!
