Coast/Beach
The nearest beach is in Fitts Village and is a mere 5 min walk from Costa Vista. Paynes Bay is 5 mins by car and provides all the water sports, snorkeling and an opportunity to swim with wild ocean turtles.

Golf
Close to Sandylane and Royal Westmorland golf courses, both courses approx 10 mins away.

Special events in Barbados include:
1. Crop Over, a five-week summer festival, is Barbados' most popular and colourful festival. It's origins can be traced back to the 1780's, a time when Barbados was the world's largest producer of sugar. At the end of the sugar season, there was always a huge celebration to mark the culmination of another successful sugar cane harvest - the Crop Over celebration.
2. The Barbados Jazz Festival, which celebrates the best in international and local jazz talent, has become a major annual Caribbean event.
3. Held at the town of Oistins on the South Coast of Barbados, the Oistins Fish Festival celebrates the contribution made to Barbados by those persons involved in the local fishing industry. The festival is a unique attraction that offers fun and entertainment for both locals and visitors alike.

Travel
Grantley Adams International Airport is a 30 minute drive from Costa Vista.

Distances
Fitts village is 500 yards away, while Hole Town is a 7 min drive. The capital Bridgetown is 15 mins by car.

Further details
There is a local supermarket in Fitts Village called Jordans Supermarket. Others include the Super Centre in Warrens, or Sunset Crest Plaza in Hole Town. For fresh fish, the fish market in Bridgetown or Speightown is highly recommended. In Bridgetown there are more shops and the Cave Shepherd department store, which also has small outlets at both the Sunset shopping malls. In order to ensure you gain the benefits of tax free shopping you must carry your passport with you at all times. All tax free items can be taken with you with the exception of alcohol and tobacco, which must be collected at the airport upon your departure. Jewellery can be found in Colombian Emeralds and Diamonds International. The local currency is the Barbadian dollar and the exchange rate varies from about $2 BDS to $1 CDN. There are several banks locally, including the Royal Bank and Barbados National Bank. All banks will change cash and travellers cheques. Cash machines (ATMS) can be found outside all of the banks, therefore, it is easy to obtain cash at any time of the day. All major credit cards are accepted in shops and restaurants. Local calls from the apartment are free, international calls are not included. The most cost effective way to make international calls is to buy a local pay as you go SIM card for your mobile phone. Don’t forget to ensure that your mobile is not blocked before leaving home. There are many tourist locations including Welch Man Hall Gully, Andromeda Gardens, The Animal Flower Cave, Harrison’s Cave, Jolly Rogers, Tyrol Cots Heritage Village this is the former home of Sir Grantley Adams who was the first Prime Minister of Barbados, and much more!
