Pink Ginger is located 1,500 feet in the foothills of the John Crow and Blue Mountains. It offers a totally unique experience, one where, away from the tourist resorts the opportunity to be in rural Jamaica amongst its people is real. The cottage is an ideal retreat, set in gorgeous but unmanicured surroundings where you are free to breathe. The 21 acre property is maintained so as to preserve its ecological balance. There are fresh water springs (this spring water is run into the cottage), and forest trails, some of which are steep and rocky, walking shoes are recommended. There are a huge variety of fruits, vegetables, herbs, spices etc available throughout the year and people on hand if you need any help or advice.

Accessibility
This property is not suitable for those with mobility difficulties.
Outside
The property has 2 veranda/patio spaces as well as a further fully grilled area used by the owner as an artists studio. The cottage is nestled in a luscious fully hedged garden. The veranda overlooking the property is used as the dining area. There are a variety of benches, hammocks, swing seats etc.
Coast/Beach
Approximately 5 miles (20 minutes drive) to a variety of beaches along the coast: Winnifred or Fairy Hill is an all time favorite public beach.
Private beaches include:
Frenchmans Cove with its river that runs into the sea is famous as much for its beauty as its Hollywood connections and continues to be used as a film location.
San San where you can swim out to Monkey Island, and the well known Blue Lagoon.
Boston Bay which is the home of Jamaica's famous jerk pork and chicken.
Special interest holidays
This is an ideal destination for the independent traveller. For artists/writers/creatives it offers the space to think. The studio book includes details of local artists and practitioners if there is an interest.
Travel
Kingston (Norman Manley) is the nearest international airport, 21/2 hours driving. Montego Bay currently is over 4 hours drive due to a road improvement scheme. There is a small internal runway at St Margarets Bay (Ken Jones Aerodrome) but it is not always in use. This is a 30 minute drive from Pink Ginger.
Car hire is recommended.
Distances
Pink Ginger is located on the outskirts of the joined village districts of Nonsuch and Cambridge.
Nonsuch boasts its own limestone caves and is a 10 minute walk.
The busy, twin harboured market town of Port Antonio is 5 miles away. Here there is internet access in a variety of places, and all the usual amenities.
Further details
The village has a variety of shops selling all the basics as well as a fair amount of bars.
There are no phone lines in the district but mobile networks are efficient.

A damage deposit of £100 is payable at time of booking, this will be returned after inspection, on reciept of return of keys.
A 25% non refundable deposit will be required to secure booking.
