The apartment is located near to Discovery Bay beach. Literally a few steps down the path and you will find yourself stepping down onto a beautiful golden sand beach and see the gentle waves of the Caribbean Sea. The apartment is set in tropical gardens with 12 other studios. It is approx 5-10 minute walk to the centre of Holetown where there are many bars, restaurants and a shopping centre. Holetown is on the popular west coast of the island.

Prices are for the property per week in UK pounds.
For nightly rate please divide x 7. Minimum 5 night stay.

Changeover day
We have no preference of change over day and are flexible with length of stay as well.

Accommodation
Bedrooms: The apartment is open plan and the bedroom is located downstairs in the cooler part of the apartment. There is a king-size bed that can be made into two singles (additional bed can be provided for 3rd person). There is a ceiling fan located over the bed.
Bathrooms: The bathroom is also located downstairs, separate from the bedroom. There is a wc and large wash basin with cupboard space and a newly decorated walk-in shower (big enough for two!).
Kitchen: The kitchen is very well equipped with everything you need for self-catering, including picnic equipment. There is a table and chairs and ceiling fan in the kitchen with additional seating outside on the balcony.
Living Rooms: There are comfortable chairs downstairs in the bedroom area where there is a stereo and TV. Speakers available for mp3 players are also provided.
Other: The balcony area is upstairs just off the kitchen. It is spacious with two loungers and a table with 4 chairs. There is also a ceiling fan and outside lighting. It's perfect for breakfast and also watching the sunset in the evening with a glass of wine.
Cleaning/towels/
linen/maid service:
The apartment is cleaned every day apart from Tuesday (Helena's day off) Linen and towels are changed three times a week. Beach towels are not provided so please bring your own.

Notes on accommodation
Art studios are managed by friendly staff, Audrey, Harry and Helena, who are very knowledgeable about the local area and are happy to help with any of your queries.
We can arrange for Harry to collect you from the airport for a small cost. This will save you a day car rental and give you an introduction to the island and the apartments.

Outside
The private gardens are full of tropical, colorful plants and fruit trees and are very well maintained by Harry. There is a communal area for all guests and there are also loungers within the gardens for some more private sunbathing. Perfect for relaxing in the afternoon, reading a good book and having a nap.
There is a barbeque area in the gardens at the back of the apartments, this can be used by all guests and can be very sociable if a few guests get together for the evening.

Coast/Beach
Just a few steps away from the apartment is the beach which is located between the Sandpiper hotel and Discovery Bay hotel. All beaches in Barbados are open to the public so even if the beach is in front of an exclusive hotel you are still entitled to be there.
There is a roped off area for swimming and snorkeling, which has a raft that you can swim out to and sunbathe on. There are also many activities available at the beach e.g. boat trips, jet skiing, diving trips etc.

Golf
The exclusive Sandy Lane golf course is 2 miles south down the Highway. There are several golf courses located all around the island within easy reach.

Travel
There is only one airport on Barbados - Grantley Adams International. It is about 40 mins from the apartment.
Transport on the island is excellent. There are buses that run up and down the main highway and further a field. They run from early morning to late at night $1.50 per journey and normally very entertaining especially if you choose the yellow bus option.
There is a taxi rank located in the Discovery Bay hotel next door and lots of choice for hiring cars locally.

Distances
The centre of Holetown is 5-10 minutes walk.
Speightstown is 6 miles away and Bridgetown is 7 miles away and easy to get to on the bus.
The island is small and can be driven from top to bottom and side to side in a relatively short time period.

Further details
The local shopping centre has a well equipped supermarket and a few duty free shops. There is a post office opposite the shopping centre. For more shopping Bridgetown is best. Swan Street and Broad Street are best for duty free bargains.
There are some fantastic restaurants and bars in Holetown primarily on First and Second Street but also along the main road. Our website has more details on local restaurants and restaurant a little further away. The website also has some susgested excursions during your stay in Barbados.

Booking notes
We ask for a 25% deposit to secure your booking and the remainder to be paid 2 months prior to your departure date.
We have friends with other larger apartments / houses on the island so please let us know if you would like to put us in touch with them especially if you are traveling in a larger group.
