Casas del Sol is in a prime location in Playa Blanca. It is opposite a small harbour and close to beaches, shops and restaurants. Our villa is situated on this beautiful complex with landscaped gardens and a large heated salt water pool. It has its own large, private terrace and garden with a tranquil atmosphere in which to 'recharge your batteries'. The villa has been completely refurbished and has a beautiful Spanish style, but a very modern feeling. There are bespoke furnishings and custom made Egyptian cotton towels and dressing gowns to complete the luxury makeover. Because of its position it is not necessary to hire a car, because there are many restaurants and shops within easy walking distance. There is an internet room in the reception, however, so if you need to keep in touch you can do so for just 1 euro! There is also wi-fi access for your own laptop in the reception area - for a charge of 2 euros per day. Ryanair flights now available from Bristol and other UK airports.

Notes on prices
Prices are for the villa for 1 or 2 people. Third person £50 per week extra. Sorry, our villa is not suitable for more than 3 people. Welcome packs can be arranged in case of late flights (Extra charge). 7% discount for bookings of 3 weeks or more.

Changeover day
Changeover day is usually a Thursday but we can sometimes be flexible, so please ask if a different day is required.
10am check out on day of departure, to enable the villa to be cleaned for the next guests, (but see notes below).

Notes on accommodation
Ceiling fans in double bedroom and lounge. Mosquito nets on all windows. Small wall safe in main bedroom (or large safe -charge made locally) personal collection of DVDs, videos and books and library in reception. No smoking inside the villa, please. Internet room in reception area (1 euro minimum charge), wi-fi access for your laptop in reception (2 euros per day charge). In case of late flights, facilities available for showering and storing luggage, as well.

Large heated communal swimming pool with sunbeds and umbrellas, heated children's pool, tennis court (racquets & balls in villa) & boule pit, all set within beautiful landscaped gardens. Mainly pedestrianised site with reception, small shop, internet room, wi-fi access, library, lounge area and residents car park.
Coast/Beach
There are 3 sandy beaches within walking distance of Casas del Sol. Playa Flamingo and the pretty village beach are about 10 minutes walk away and Playa Dorada is 15 minutes walk. The beautiful, protected beaches of Papagayo are only a short drive. Two of the beaches have activities including pedalos and jet skis, etc. with shops and bars behind them. There is a wonderful coastal path to enjoy walks from the marina at Puerto Rubicon to the Faro Park area - one side of the town to the other.
Golf
There is an 18 hole course in Puerto del Carmen about 20 minutes drive away, and one in Costa Teguise, about 40 minutes drive away. Clubs, trolleys and electric buggies are available to hire at both.
Travel
Arrecife airport is about 25 minutes drive away. (About 40 euros in a taxi). Car hire is not necessary as the villa is in the heart of Playa Blanca and only a couple of minutes walk from the village with its pedestrianised streets, shops, restaurants and beaches. We suggest hiring a car to see more of the island, as the roads are good and not too busy and there are wonderful sights to see all over Lanzarote.
Distances
A ferry goes regularly to Fuerteventura from the harbour opposite Casas del Sol, the journey takes about half an hour.
Playa Blanca is at the extreme south of the island and the north can be reached in about an hour by car. All the places of interest are therefore easily accessible for day trips. Timanfaya (20mins)is a volcanic National Park, Cactus Garden(40mins) Teguise market (Sunday) (30mins) Cesar Manrique (Famous local artist & patron) exhibits and architecture all over the island.

There are several supermarkets locally, as well as banks with ATM machines.
Playa Blanca has numerous good restaurants including Spanish, Indian, and Chinese providing wonderful fish, meat and vegetarian dishes. There is a large array of shops providing perfume, jewellery and electronic equipment, all at duty free prices. Playa Blanca has sports' bars and bars with live music and karaoke, but it is not really a "clubbers" resort. Horse riding, camel rides and paint balling is all available in Yaiza, which is a 10 minute drive away. The horse riding is suitable for all, with 2 hour rides possible for experienced riders and beginners sessions available for children and adults. Camel rider certificates are given if you are brave enough to try it! Diving is available in Playa Blanca, 5 minutes walk away. The diving can be arranged locally to suit experienced divers as well as those wanting to try something new.
Booking notes
We prefer direct bank payment, and ask for £100 per week deposit or full payment if booked within 8 weeks of travel. Balances are due 2 months before travel.

About the owner
Hi,
We are Brian and Di Livingstone and we live in Bristol (with our two sons, aged 22 and 25) where we run a small telecomms business. We both love the sun and try to be in it as much as possible - which usually means going abroad!! We always had self-catering holidays with the boys, so that we could be relaxed and have breakfast in dressing gowns, etc, but always found the accommodation lacking. We have tried to include all the little individual touches we felt were missing in our villa to make it a home from home.

Why the owner chose a home in this location
We love the peace and tranquillity of the site and its gardens and our villa in particular we bought because it was in the quietest part of the complex. We also love Casas del Sol because of its excellent location. We enjoy a nice meal and a bottle of wine and there are so many good restaurants in walking distance, we can eat at a different place every night of our stay if we want to. However, we always hire a car and re-acquaint ourselves with the wonderful, unique landscapes and practice our very basic Spanish on the friendly locals. Brian hates driving in the UK, but enjoys the good roads, lack of traffic (and traffic lights, etc.) of Lanzarote. Each time we come we discover a new delight - even though it is quite a small island.

With our villa we feel we have created a light, individual and beautiful space, with Mediterranean feel to relax in. We have custom-made furnishings, bedding, towels and dressing gowns in order to give us a luxury experience when we come away. We enjoy sharing it with people who also love luxury and those little extra comforts, whilst still being in a relaxed non-starchy atmosphere. We very much feel that the rent we make is a tool to help us continually maintain and improve our second home, so that we, and our clients, constantly have regularly added touches to complete the overall experience.
