Notes on accommodation
Satellite TV is available although the number of channels available on Lanzarote are limited - BBC World News is available, Sky News and several movie channels but do NOT expect BBC or ITV UK channels - they are not carried to the Canaries by satellite any more.
WiFi internet is however available at the villa - send and receive emails, use VOIP, browse the internet - all free of charge.
Accessibility
The property is not suitable for wheelchair use.
Outside
The kidney shaped swimming pool measures approximately 8x4m and slopes from 1 metre at the shallow end to 1.6 metres at the deepest point. It is situated in the tropical walled garden, offering an exceptional area for relaxing by the water, enjoying the palms and plants. The pool is fully heated - using a combination of solar mats and a heat pump system, able to maintain a minimum 26 degrees C water temperature even in winter months.(Without a heating system in the winter months, believe us - you wouldn't want to swim, temperatures would naturally fall to about 18 degrees C - brrr!!).
Coast/Beach
Casa Margarita is a 5 minute drive from Famara Bay with its stunning white sand beach. Many surf schools operate from here. There are several small secluded beaches all within easy reach of the house. Tourist beaches can be found in the busy resorts of Costa Teguise and Puerto del Carmen (20 - 30 mins drive).
Golf
The nearest golf club is a superb and mature course at Costa Teguise. It is an 18-hole course located at the foot of an extinct volcano, with stunning views out over the Atlantic Ocean. It was designed by Briton, John Harris, and is a gentle yet highly varied course, running between volcanic rock, cacti and palm trees, so that you can enjoy the natural landscape in all its beauty. The course has numerous dog legs, ideal for attractive, enjoyable play. In addition to its privileged situation, the course also enjoys a wonderful climate, warm all year round. There is also a new course at Tias / Puerto del Carmen - both are around 20 - 30 mins drive away.
Travel
Arrecife airport is about 20 minutes away. Most visitors pre book their car via the internet and collect from the airport - although choice of a local company makes more sense than 'internet based' organisations in UK most of which have no local base on the island - only a representative. In case of breakdown etc local companies respond more readily. Car hire is essential.
Distances
The village of Soo is a five minute car drive from Caleta de Famara with its famous surfing beach, surf lessons can be booked in Caleta. La Santa, a small fishing village, is also a five minute drive. Here it is possible to buy fresh fish direct from the fisherman (usually found in his garage). La Santa also has a great surfing spot for the more advanced surfers. Both Tinajo and Teguise municipal centres have a range of shops, and banking facilities. They are a 10 minute drive from the house.
Further details
Restaurants and bars - There is a tapas bar in the village and there are many local restaurants within easy reach of Casa Margarita, good restaurants can be found in Caleta de Famara a five minute drive, the old capital of Teguise 10 minutes by car, in La Santa, a local fishing village, nearby Tiagua which boasts three good restaurants, a very popular restaurant highly regarded by locals at La Vuegeta - the list goes on. Ask us for tips. The village boasts four Tiendas (local, small supermarkets) which are well stocked for daily needs including fresh rolls from the village bakery and local produce (the goats cheese is a speciality). Several large supermarkets exist on the island at Arrecife and Playa Honda where anything you would expect from a supermarket can be obtained. Bars are most numerous in the mass tourist resorts although local bars and Bodegas are often worth the search. Chemists shops are numerous throughout the island.

Guest comments
We thought the house was really lovely and having been to Manrique's house during the week we could see where you got some of your inspiration.
It had everything you could possibly want and was more than a cut above the average holiday rental. The standard of finish and the general comfort and style as well as the standard of cleanliness were exceptional. We will certainly be recommending it to our friends.

Thank you for what has been a truly wonderful relaxing holiday. We certainly hope to return. An excellent location to unwind. So many positive comments already made about this well presented, lavishly appointed property there is little we can add! Many have said, as have we, that the photographs cannot do the house justice.

Why the owner chose a home in this location
We first came to Lanzarote on holiday and fell head over heals in love with it´s stunning scenery, volcanic landscapes and sleepy villages.
It didn´t take us long to decide that this was where we wanted to make our home. We bought an old semi derelict finca in the village of Soo, close to the famous surfing beach of Famara. Our vision was to reform the house and turn it into a luxury holiday accommodation with a home away from home feel. It took a lot of hard work and determination from us both to complete the work on the house but we enjoyed every minute of it and learned an awful lot along the way.
Unique benefits of the property
Casa Margarita is situated on the edge of the village and enjoys complete privacy to all aspects. The house has a traditional feel with it´s open courtyards, high ceilings and thick stone walls.
