The apartment is on a friendly complex situated on the all year round sunny side of the valley, with a relaxing pool where you can bask in sunshine all day long. Our apartments will sleep 2 people for your comfort no overcrowding. The complex is on 3 levels with the swimming pool on the first and our apartment is on the 3rd level and has a private balcony which overlooks the pool and and has a sea view. Situated in a central location and just a 5-7 minute walk to beach, marinas, bars and restaurants. The demanding location is one reason we bought this apartment and our guests return year after year. No transport required up and down the mountainside at this location (It is not at the top of the mountain saving on taxi fares to the beaches & other amenities) not too far from the centre but not too close for comfort, to spoil a good nights sleep after a days sunbathing and an evening's enjoyment. There is a large handy supermarket for essentials and public transport close by.

Notes on accommodation
Gran Canaria has all year sunshine and the only country with fantastic weather but no hurricanes, tornados, earth quakes etc and because of the dry cliimate very few mosquitoes.
Accessibility
As some of our guests are more mature people who return year after year as well as young people we consider this location is suitable also for fairly fit elderly people but not for the infirm.
Outside
There is a relaxing communal pool with sun beds which is never too overcrowded as this is a private friendly complex of just 22 apartments on just 3 levels. There is a very convenient supermarket close by and a hotel just accross the road with entertainment and the usual hotel amenities. Very few children stay at Bonanza apartments as it is a private not a commercial complex.
Coast/Beach
The horse shoe shaped golden sandy beach of Puerto Rico is set between 2 marinas where there are lots of excursions, watersports, big game fishing, sailing, diving, parascending, Dolphin search boats, Pirate fun boat, jet skis, and pedalos to name a few and other activities 5-7 minutes walk from the apartments. There is also another very nice beach at Amadores a pleasant 10-15 minutes walk from the apartment along a man made cliff edge path.
Golf
There are local golf courses, 10 minutes drive to either Tauro or Salobre golf courses and 15 minutes to Maspalomas which is the largest. There is also night golf.
Special interest holidays
Walking is very popular in the mountains of Gran Canaria and there are supervised group walks & sightseeing. Cycling is also very popular, Cycling teams are often seen training here.
Travel
Las Palmas airport is approx 30 -35 mins drive from Puerto Rico all motorway. We can arrange airport transfers with a reputable taxi company as private taxi transfers are illegal and are not insured for this purpose. Or you can make your own arrangements via A2B transfers or Resorthoppa both bookable online and drop you at your accommodation.
Distances
The small fishing village of Arguineguin where the market is located on Tuesdays is 10 mins drive or you can catch the ferry or bus. Also the village of Mogan where the market is on Fridays is 20 minutes drive from Puerto Rico. The local buses and ferries are frequent and inexpensive. (Mogan 20 minutes drive from Puerto Rico is great for a day a very quiet village where most bars etc close around 23.30).
Further details
Puerto Rico is in the south of Gran Canaria sheltered from the prevailing winds. The only resort here on Gran Canaria with 2 beautiful marinas and a beautiful golden sandy beach where you will find many excursions and activities such as sport fishing for the Blue Marlin and tuna in season from May. Sailing, parascending, diving, jet skis, pirate fun boat, dolphin and whale search and many more activities.
Take a jeep safari to the beautiful lakes and mountains with its rich vedgitation & breathtaking scenery, or spend a great day at the water parks or other excursions such as Sioux city wild west shows, Palmitos Park a bird sanctuary or Mundo Aborigen a stone age museum settlement and many more.
Visit the markets and the duty free shops selling cut price perfume, tobacco, spirits and electrical goods at very good affordable prices.
The nightlife here in Puerto Rico is for all ages young and the more mature holiday maker. Discos, nightclubs, and bars with live music, quizzes and karaoke. If that isn't your scene take a stroll to the quieter sea front or marina bars and restaurants which cater for all tastes and nationalities at very reasonable prices.

About the owner
We are a British couple from the Nth of England and always came to Gran Canaria on holiday. We came to live here on this beautiful island 14 yrs ago, 1997 as we loved the place and the all year sunshine. My husband John is a keen fisherman also a big game fisherman for The Blue Marlin. John worked as a professional driver in the UK and I worked in Finance. We have 2 grown up married children and 6 grandchildren. We live in Arguineguin a small town not far from Puerto Rico. We have worked as a team and have met lots of lovely people of different nationalities, some who return year after year and have become good friends. From May 2011 we have decided to retire and spend more time with our family in the UK but will be returning to GC for long stays and will still be letting our apartment.
Why the owner chose an apartment in this location
We first came on holiday to Gran Canaria 16 years ago and stayed at Bonanza apartments and enjoyed it so much we decided to buy our own holiday apartment on this complex and 14 years ago decided to come and live here. We enjoy the all year sunshine. We would like to invite holiday makers to come and enjoy this beautiful island and to stay at our lovely apartment through this have made many friends who return year after year. The Bonanza apartments are small, friendly very relaxed complex. Not the hustle and bustle of a large commercial complex and better equipped. There are beautiful beaches and marinas and a trip to the mountains is breathtaking.
Unique benefits of the property
The Bonanza apartments are in a great location 5-7 minutes walk to the beach, marinas and the centre of Puerto Rico. Lovely all year round sunny pool on this particular side of the valley which attracted us to the complex when we used to holiday here. Just a minute up the road there is a large supermarket which is very convenient. We chose a private complex as there is no noisy pool bar which you can find if required in a large commercial complex just across the road. So you have the best of both worlds.
