A really beautiful villa in a peaceful, relaxing setting with large communal salt water pool, smaller children's pool and two tennis courts. For peace of mind, the pool has a resident lifeguard on duty from 10am-6pm (seasonal hours). The location is perfect; central but quiet - no car needed. 3 mins from the old town of Playa Blanca with its many shops, restaurants, harbour and town beach. 10 mins walk are 2 more beaches: Playa Flamingo, a family beach with sheltered golden sands, shallow water and restricted tides and Playa Dorada a much bigger 'blue flag' beach with water sports. Fantastic location opposite the harbour which has a regular ferry to other islands and taxi boats to the famous Papagayo beaches. 5 mins walk to all the wonderful restaurants & bars in the Old Town, but still peaceful & very relaxing. A perfect family holiday: we do not charge for children or extra adults: an 'all-in' price for up to 6 people. A tranquil haven for adults seeking relaxation.

Bedrooms: Bedroom 1 with twin beds; copious storage and built in safe.
Bedroom 2 with bunk beds (2 ft 9 inches by 5 ft 9 inches).
Double sofabed in lounge.
Child's cot available via reception if required (approx 20 euros/ week); we can book this for you.
Bathrooms: Marble bathroom with walk in shower (with handrail), wc and laundry area (washing machine and shelving). Please note there is a shower, not a bath.
Kitchen: New kitchen and equipment (cooker, hob, fridge freezer) installed in 2009.
Kitchen is an adjunct to the lounge with dining area. Fridge freezer, cooker, hob, oven, coffee maker, kettle.
Utility Room: Washing machine is in bathroom. Clothes dryers provided.
Living Rooms: Lounge with large sliding patio doors to private terrace and garden. TV with satellite (limited english channels), DVD/CD player. Double sofabed and armchair. Extendable dining table & 4 chairs inside and outside patio dining table, chairs and loungers.
Other: Most meals are eaten alfresco, so we have included a large dining table and chairs for the garden as well as 2 sun loungers with padded cushions.
All windows open and we have fitted mosquito nets on all windows to ensure absolute comfort.
Cleaning/towels/
linen/maid service:
Towels and linen are included and replaced once a week. Please bring your own beach towels. Villa is cleaned weekly. Welcome packs available on request.

 

Notes on accommodation
The villa and complex is perfect for children and families due to proximity to facilities, town, and beaches. In the complex we have 2 pools and 2 tennis courts. Our children are aged 3 and 5 and they love it, as do their grandparents. The villa and complex are also great for people with walking difficulties. The car park is just a minute's walk away although cars can drop off at the end of the path for easier access, and the complex has ramps throughout - also a big help for parents pushing buggies. The villa shower has a support handrail. The villa itself has 2 steps up to the patio. The villa has a built in safe - keys available through reception with deposit payable. We have provided everything needed for a family home from home: Tomy strap on high chair, portable potty, mosquito net for cot , removable Tomy side bars for beds. CD/DVD player along with some family DVDs, games, books. etc. Limited Sky TV available, bring your own UK Sky card to enjoy full service.

Outside
We have a private garden to the front of the villa and the rear (bedrooms) open onto green area to give privacy.
Good garden furniture (table, chairs, sunlounger and cushions) is provided to allow comfortable al fresco living.

One minute's walk away is the shared heated pools; a large freeform saltwater pool and a small children's pool which are heated.
There is a life guard on duty from 10am -6pm, with a slight variation between winter and summer hours. There are also 2 tennis courts if you want a bit of exercise in the sunshine (5 euros an hour hire, with raquets available to hire at 1 euro each).

Coast/Beach
The local beach is 5 min walk away within Playa Blanca. 10 minutes walk away is Playa Dorada which is a large family/ sports beach with water sports and activities. Playa Flamingo is also 10 mins walk away and is a much smaller, quiet beach perfect for families with small children as it is sheltered with little tides. For seclusion, take the taxi boat from the harbour opposite Casas Del Sol, to the 5 beautiful Papagayo beaches. Bring your snorkel goggles and swim with the beautiful fish.

Golf
Costa Teguise golf course is approx 1 hour away. It is open all year round.

Travel
Casas del Sol is 25 - 30 mins by taxi from Arrecife airport. The taxi will cost around 35 - 40 euros but all the taxis are metered. As there are many attractions so close to hand, car hire is not necessary unless you want to go into the mountains or sightseeing. There are around 5 tour companies who arrange sightseeing tours with local pick ups. However there are many car hire companies in Playa Blanca and rates are very competitive.

Distances
There are many wonderful restaurants, shops and a great town beach in Playa Blanca old town which is 3 mins walk from Casas Del Sol. The Harbour, with ferries to Fuerteventura is also 3 mins walk away.

Rubicon Marina, with designer shops and restaurants and market is 15 - 20 mins (slow, seafront walk). Playa Dorada (large family beach) is 10 mins walk along beachfront.

Playa Flamingo (sheltered family beach perfect for small children) is 10 mins walk, along beachfront.

Further details
Playa Blanca has 2 banks and 4 supermarkets with many more smaller shops so grocery shopping is very easy.
The restaurants in Playa Blanca are varied and numerous, ranging from small local bistros to larger chain type restaurants and 'special event' restaurants. There is a wonderful and popular german bakery which provides delicious freshly baked breads, cakes etc.
Forget the car; the villa is centrally located and restaurants, beaches and the Old Town are within very easy walking distance.
If you want to explore the sights such as Timanfaya Volcano mountains, the caves or Manrique sites, there are plenty of organised tours that collect from the Old Town, so you do not need to have a car if you would prefer to avoid driving.

About the owner
We live in Twickenham with our 3 young children (ages 6, 5 and 9 mths). We love Lanzarote because of the diversity of the landscape, it's beauty and pace of life. Also, because of the cuisine and friendliness of every restaurant and resident. We also realised that a young family such as ours does not suit the structure (or expense) of hotel holidays. We prefer to set our own pace and spend days at the beach and pools in Casas Del Sol, with trips to the volcanoes, caves and other fantastic places. Playa Blanca is fantastic for children. Casas Del Sol is a special resort, the first legal tourist complex (there are only 3), with a rare 'Three Keys' designation from the tourist authority. Our aim is that our villa is a real 'home from home''. Relax in all year round sunshine.

Why the owner chose a home in this location
Casas Del Sol is a really special complex. One of only three legal 'Touristic Complexes' in Lanzarote, it was one of the first built and so is located right in the centre of Playa Blanca Old Town. The advantage of being a 'Three Keys' resort is that it is very strictly controlled to exceptionally high standards. It is a small complex so there is no feeling of being in a big development and as only a small proportion of villas are allowed to let out, so it is never too busy. Being so central, there is no need to hire a car unless you want to drive out for excursions. Despite it's location it is extremely quiet. Guests return to us every year because they value the tranquility of the villa: we are situated in a very quiet spot on the complex.
