Notes on accommodation
Located in an attractive cul-de-sac with parking outside, the villa is in its own enclosed grounds and is suitable for couples and/or families, including small children. A free travel cot and high chair are available on advance request and a buggy can be hired. A car is essential to fully enjoy your stay in Chayofa village, which is residential and very quiet and peaceful. The terraces are fitted with attractive external lighting for sitting outside on the warm, balmy evenings. English-speaking representatives are close at hand to answer any questions and deal with any maintenance issues. A nanny/babysitter, who is UK CRB approved and has 20 years experience with children’s services can be arranged. A welcome pack with water, tea, coffee, sugar, milk and toilet rolls is provided on arrival, along with a kitchen pack, including dishwasher tablets, washing up liquid, and cleaning cloth. Although smoking is not permitted within the house, you are free to smoke outside on the terraces.
Accessibility
Although the house is all on one floor, there is a step up into the en-suite shower room. Externally there are two steps to get into the terrace and access to some of the terrace areas is via several steps, so care needs to be exercised with small children. It would not be a problem for someone with limited mobility but wheelchair access, is limited. Those with mobility problems may find that walking around the village is difficult, due to the slopes.
Outside
The fully tiled terraces are mostly secluded and private, with tropical and flowering plants. There are 5 sun loungers with mattresses, a table and 6 chairs and adjustable parasol for alfresco dining. French doors lead to the main terrace, where you can relax and sunbathe in complete privacy as it gets sun all day and has a feature seating area around the palm tree. The top terrace has a seaview and is shaded by a gazebo. External lighting creates a lovely atmosphere in the evening. Parking is available directly outside the house, in the quiet cul-de-sac. The gated, community swimming pool, with sun deck, is purely for residents/guests of Chayofa baja and located a short walk away. It is 18 x 6m and heated. A key can be obtained on arrival for which there is a 100 Euro (refundable) deposit required. (Necessary to meet community rules). Chayofa offers the best of both worlds - a peaceful setting, while being close to the lively resorts just a few miles down the hillside.
Coast/Beach
Within 10 minutes drive there are many superb beaches, both natural and man-made. Owner profile
About the owner
We, Dave and Helen, currently live and work in Scotland. For the last 12 years we have spent most of our holidays in Tenerife and have fallen in love with the island, particularly the fantastic all year round sunshine. We intend to retire here in a few years’ time and when we were looking for our permanent home we were blown away by this house from the first moment. It is definitely where we want to spend our retirement because of the prestigious location and the wealth of local amenities. It already feels like home from home when we walk through the door but when we are not there we are happy to share it with visitors so that they can enjoy the lifestyle of the lovely island.
Year purchased: 2008
Why the owner chose a home in this location
We bought our house in Tenerife because of the all year round sun and the relatively short flight times from the UK. We chose South Tenerife because of the fantastic facilities for both holidaymakers and residents, including the beaches, the golf courses, the fishing villages, the traditional villages, the varied shopping centres and seafront walks. There is also a vast array of things to see and do and the busy day and nightlife is close at hand. There is a huge choice of eating out opportunities and entertainment and cabaret bars. Our house is also very convenient for the airport. We chose Chayofa because of the lovely residential feel of the village with its many flowers and palm trees. It is quiet, peaceful and relaxing with facilities close by. It has good bus and taxi services.
