A smart, spacious 1-bedroom apartment in the lovely Mare Verde resort complex. This is a very convenient location - shops, restaurants are only a few hundred metres away and it's just a 10-minute walk to the beach. The apartment itself is superbly positioned. The living room opens out onto a large south-facing balcony and the view from here has got to be the best in the whole complex. The balcony enjoys sunshine from mid morning until late evening and because this is an upper (1st floor) apartment, it also gets a nice cool breeze. An ideal spot for sunbathing or just chilling out.

Accommodation
| Bedrooms: | Twin beds, wardrobe, dresser and drawers, ceiling fan. The bedroom also has a safe deposit box for your use. |

| Living Rooms: | Dining table with four chairs. The settee opens out easily into a very comfortable double bed, if required. A large ceiling fan keeps the room nice and cool even on the warmest days. There's also TV, DVD player and iPod speakers. |
| Other: | The spacious balcony has a table and four chairs and a large sun umbrella if required. There's also an electric griddle if you want to barbeque. |

Towels and linen are provided and the apartment is cleaned on a weekly basis. |
Notes on accommodation
The apartment has satellite TV, offering four British TV channels - BBC1, BBC2, ITV and Channel 4. There is also a DVD player and assorted DVDs. If you want to bring your laptop, there is now a wireless broadband facility available at the Mare Verde community office at a very reasonable rate.
Outside
Mare Verde is set in the distinctive style of an Andalucian village. There are six swimming pools that are linked by a series of bridges and mini waterfalls to create a "waterway" running through the middle of the complex. There's a pool bar with friendly service with good food and drinks at very reasonable prices.
Coast/Beach
The beach at Playa Fanabe is just a 10-minute walk. A tiled walkway runs along the beachfront, following the coast from Los Cristianos all the way to Caleta. This has always been a very popular stroll at all times of the year, and the recently completed section along Costa Adeje is really spectacular.
Golf
For the golf enthusiast, there are five courses within easy travelling distance:

Los Palos (4 miles)
Costa Adeje (5 miles)
Golf del Sur (10 miles)
Amarilla Golf (10 miles)
Unlike mainland Spain or Portugal, Tenerife is a truly year-round resort and golf is generally a shorts 'n' shirt game even from December to March.
Travel
Tenerife South airport is about 20-minutes away and the taxi fare is €20-25. With shops, restaurants etc being so close at hand here, you probably won't need a car but if you want to explore the island (and yes, there's plenty to see!) rental rates are quite reasonable e.g. €120/week for a Ford KA or Punto. There are plenty of organised trips too. You may want to see the lanscape of Mt. Teide, enjoy a boat trip along the coast to Los Gigantes or take a ferry over to the island of La Gomera.

Further details
Just up the road is the new Grand Sur shopping complex featuring a large Mercadona supermarket where you can buy any provisions you'll need. The nearby Siam Park is the newest in Europe and has been earning rave reviews from waterpark fans. Also close by is the Aquapark, where the dolphin show is highly recommended.

About the owner
Huw and Diane. I'm a teacher at an international school and my wife Diane is a nurse. I've worked overseas for most of my life and we both love to travel. Tenerife has been our favourite place ever since our first visit in 2003. We liked it so much that we bought the apartment just six months later! We both like sunshine and the outdoor way of life. We also enjoy good food (especially seafood!) and a glass or two of good wine, so Tenerife is just perfect.

Why the owner chose an apartment in this location
The all-year-round warm climate is what first drew us to Tenerife and being able to go to the beach in December or play golf (in shorts!) in February is fantastic. But there's much more to Tenerife than just beaches and golf courses and whenever we visit we like to explore the mountains or some of the tiny coves and villages around the coast. We chose the Torviscas area because it's got everything you need on a holiday all within easy reach. Beach, shops, restaurants, bars...it's all there. At the same time though, it's just far enough out of the "main drag" that you can find peace and quiet when you need it. We looked at a lot of complexes before buying our apartment and Mare Verde was the one that stood out because of its unique character, its friendliness and its perfect location.
Unique benefits of the property
The apartment is really airy, spacy and cool and that's so important, especially in summer. We're really fortunate in having the prime spot in the whole complex, which means a front terrace looking right out over the entire length of the pool area, with the sea in the background. We like to sit out there for breakfast in the morning before the sun comes round, or for baked dorada (sea bream) or shrimps and a glass of wine in the evening, just watching the sun going down. Bliss!
