'Finca de Arrieta' is an Eco Retreat with fantastic sea views and spacious surroundings. The Eco range includes Yurts, Garden Cottages and Villa. All are totally independent and detached with their own outside terrace. The electric on the retreat is run from a central source of renewable energy, which consists of 2 wind turbines and 50 solar panels. The properties have access to a luxury pool and chill out area to relax and entertain alike in style. Wi-Fi connection is available in Eco Retreat. Each one been tastefully styled using local stone, wood and original antiques with influences from Morocco and Indonesia giving it an luxurious feel. The mature gardens include fruit trees and Aloe Vera. Our free range chickens supply tasty eggs every morning for your breakfast. On site there is WIFI, shop, sunken trampoline, play park and ping pong. With the added bonus of the owners living on site, they are at hand to offer local information and can organize any trips and sports required.

This luxury 40m2 Eco Cottage is set amid the beautiful gardens, on the eco retreat of 'Finca de Arrieta'. Sympathetically restored, the spacious interior can comfortably accommodate a couple or small family. The contemporary design includes split level floor, open plan living room, kitchen area and bedroom. The cottage has been tastefully styled to create a cosy cottage feel using wood and local stone flooring. There is a large king size bed (180cm wide) within the bedroom area and sofa beds in the lounge area, for extra guests. The shower room has a walk in stone shower and free standing marble sink. The cottage has a fully fitted kitchen with oven/grill, hob and fridge/freezer. The lounge area has stunning views over to the sea, surrounding fields and mountains. The cottage has a walled private terrace with uninterrupted sea views, perfect for relaxing and catching some sunshine on the wooden sun loungers. Enjoy a BBQ and some alfresco dining on your own private terrace. |

Notes on accommodation
As these accommodations are located on an Eco Retreat, we encourage our guests to be aware of their electric consumption whilst staying. Items such as irons, TV, microwaves are not supplied as standard but can be made available on request. Each property at Finca de Arrieta is individual, private and detached. They have their own parking area, terrace and kitchens. The pool area is nearby and is stone walled and gated. The pool is solar heated and is covered at night. Wi-Fi connection is available within the Eco Retreat. The retreat has the largest renewable energy system on Lanzarote and it runs efficiently year round on wind and solar (you are never without electric!). Guests at Finca Arrieta can enjoy various extras such as evening meals at local restaurants, excursions to La Graciosa, baby sitting, aromatherapy massage and body board and surf trips/lessons.
Outside
Each property has it's own private terrace, sun loungers, BBQ, dining area and sea views. For our younger guests, there is a sunken trampoline, Children's play park, and swing. On site, there are chickens (free range eggs), ducks, turkeys and "Mollie", our resident donkey. There are mature exotic gardens including Mango, Banana, Guava and Lime fruit trees and bushes (a bonus if you are here in the right season!).
The shared solar heated fenced pool area consists of a 10m lap pool and benched pool. There is a Polynesian style day bed with thatched roof beside a large open entertaining suite with a 2nd kitchen, dining table, Moroccan style seating area, and a guest toilet with shower. Wi-Fi connection is also available in this area. These facilities are available to all 9 dwellings at the estate. This is a fabulous location to relax and explore the traditional Lanzarote whilst holidaying with like minded guests.
Coast/Beach
Arrieta Beach is only a 300m walk from the retreat. One of the best all round beaches on the island, it has a tapas beach bar and restaurant, toilets and shower facilities. There are a number of white sand beaches on the way up to Orzola, in the north of the island, which you can drive to within 10 minutes. The coast in this area is rugged and fantastic for walking and mountain biking.
Golf
The 18 hole golf course is in Costa Teguise about 20 minutes drive away is set at the foot of an old volcano, surrounded by 3000 palms, cactus and beautiful views to the sea. Group or individual classes are available from one of the two golf professionals.
Special interest holidays
Working alongside local suppliers, sporting activities such as Diving, Windsurfing, Kite Surfing, Surfing, Body Boarding, Mountain Biking, Road Cycling can be arranged.
The climate in Lanzarote enables visitors endless opportunitites to relax on the beach, enjoy the amazing volcanic landscape or to join activities and sports such as surfing, sailing, kiting, diving, kayaking and cycling.
Travel
The airport is located in Arrecife, the islands capital. Car hire is available at the Airport and more details can be provided on request. Full and detailed directions to the property will be sent upon reservation. The Eco Retreat is 30 to 40 minutes drive from the airport.
Distances
Arrieta Village is about a 10 minutes walk from the estate, at the end of the beach. It is a traditional fishing village, and has become well know for its sea front fish restaurants and quaint Canarian feel.
The village also offers a diving school, coffee shops, supermarket, Pizza take away, beach bar and numerous restaurants. The restaurants are open everyday from noon until 9pm and do get booked up for the weekend lunches so it is always best to book a table!
Further details
There are some lovely walking/mountain bike trails form the Eco retreat Finca De Arrieta either along the coast or up into the mountain villages. Attractions within 10 minutes drive include the Cactus Garden, Mirador del Rio, Green Caves, Bird Park and the Valley of a Thousand Palms. The mountain village of Haria holds a Saturday morning artisan craft market where you can see local craft people at work.
The historic village of Teguise, where you can take a stroll through the meandering lanes and watch local artists at work or visit the Sunday Market, is a 15 minute drive away.
The island's capital Arrecife is a 30 minute drive away. This is where the airport is located. The nearest 18 hole golf course, situated in Costa Teguise, is a 15 minute drive away.

To reserve your holiday, a deposit of 30% of total cost is required, with the outstanding balance payable 4 weeks before your arrival. Both can be made by Credit Card or Bank Transfer.
Guest comments
Thank you all for a truly relaxing and fun family break. It has been our most successful family holiday to date and we hope and plan to return in 2011 with a new baby in tow. Our boys, aged 2 & 3, relished their freedom and roamed around the site visiting the animals and their new found friends. It was our first visit to the island and we were really taken with the North, there are lots of beautiful beaches and villages to visit and our favourite restaurants were right on the doorstep in Arrieta. I'd really like to keep this hidden jem to ourselves but if you must visit I hope you find it as wonderful as we did.
Just spent a week in the Eco Garden Cottage and had a fabulous time. The Cottage is lovely as are the shared areas -the pool area is stunning. Our son made good use of the trampoline and Molly the Donkey. A great place for families with young children with both toys and tolerance in abundance!

About the owner
Michelle and Tila Braddock have a number of holiday properties for rent mainly in and around Arrieta in the North of the Island of Lanzarote where they Live and Love.
They have lived on Lanzarote for over 20 years, have brought up their 4 children on the island and are very involved in island life. They therefore have a wealth of local knowledge to offer their guests. The Lonely Planet guide book for the Canary Islands (4th Edition page 133 and 139) interviewed Tila and Michelle regarding Lanzarote and they feature along with Finca de Arrieta in the "Local Voices"section. They strive to offer you a personal service when booking and during your holiday in Lanzarote.

Why the owner chose a home in this location
We originally bought this place to live in and renovated the farmhouse ruins as a home for us and our children. We then decided to continue the refurbishment project and started the repairs to another building on site into which we then moved and started renting the "Eco Luxury villa" and the "Eco Garden Cottage" as holiday homes. The location is fantastic, just 300 meters to the sandy beach in a peaceful rural setting with wonderful views.

Being just 300 meters from Arrieta beach and with my husband and I living on site we are at hand to help with any, island information, excursions, questions etc…
The properties feature many “Eco” credentials its power provided by wind and solar energy.
It is a small private retreat in large spacious grounds with a shared solar heated gated pool.
There are many on site extras for guests to enjoy and especially for children a play room offering ping pong table, mountain bikes, surf boards, body boards, hammocks and a variety of games.
There are a number or fruit trees, vegetables growing as well as fresh eggs daily from our free range chickens, which are available to guests free of charge. This is a truly fantastic way to experience renewable energy in a great location.
