La Bodega was converted from an old wine bodega and farmhouses by the owners and your hosts Sheila and Ray Atkins. The cottages are situated in San Miguel a typical old rural Canarian town in the south of Tenerife. It is 15 minutes from the Reina Sofia international airport and 600 metres above sea level offering spectacular views to the sea and surrounding countryside. La Bodega is far enough away from the major tourist areas but close enough to enjoy the facilities. If you play golf there are two golf courses, Golf del Sur and Amarilla Golf just 15 minutes away. The principle tourist area of the south, Playa de las Américas and Los Cristianos with their superb beaches no more than 20 minutes, not forgetting the pine forests mountains and Canarian villages that are on our doorstep. San Miguel has everything you need, shops, bars, banks and good quality restaurants within walking distance. If you are looking for a tranquil location for your holiday, then La Bodega could be for you.

Bougainvillea cottage: has a large sitting room, with fully fitted separate kitchen /and dining area which looks on to the courtyard. The high ceiling is timbered in the typical Canarian tradition and the walls have been plastered showing exposed stone. There is an arch which leads off from the sitting room to the large kitchen and bedroom.
The spacious high ceilinged sitting room has two couches a two seater and three seater.
The large kitchen/dinning room has an oven, hob, microwave, lots of kitchen cupboards, fridge/freezer, toaster, all crockery, glasses, utensils, it's fully equipped has plenty of work space with dining table and 6 chairs.
The bathroom has bath/shower, wc bidet, wash basin, towels and hairdryer, everything you will need to make this your perfect holiday home.
The bedroom is spacious with a very comfortable large double bed 5' wide. Fitted cupboards chest of drawers bedside cabinets and full length mirror and lots of coat hangers.

Frangipani cottage has attractive original cane ceilings in the sitting room and the bedroom. It was a very typical feature of old Canarian houses, it is now extremely rare but very attractive. The sitting room has a fully equipped kitchen and dining area ideal for self catering, and looks out on to the terrace.
The bedroom is spacious with a large comfortable double bed 5' wide. Two fitted wardrobes, bedside cabinets and full length mirror, with unique window seats and bathroom en-suite.
The large bedroom window looks on to the courtyard.
The bathroom has bath/shower, wc bidet, wash basin, towels and hairdryer.

The twin bedded bedroom is spacious with fitted cupboards bedside cabinets and full length mirror in the hall opposite the bathroom and looks on to the courtyard and ornamental fountain.

Hibiscus cottage has a large sitting room with a high wooden beamed ceiling, is nicely furnished with separate kitchen. The kitchen is fully equipped and has every thing that you might need.
The cottage has magnificent views overlooks the swimming pool and gardens from the balcony to the sea and coastline. It also offers a small private balcony.
The spacious sitting room has a comfortable seating area with couch, armchair and glass coffee table, dining table and 4 chairs the fully equipped large kitchen/dining room has an oven, hob, microwave, lots of kitchen cupboards, fridge/freezer, toaster, all crockery, glasses, utensils. Notes on accommodation
The cottages are for 2 people sharing only. Not suitable for children.

Outside
The property has 3 levels and is approached by large doors off the narrow street. When you drive into the property you will see the reception area and parking places allocated to guests. There are palm trees, attractive gardens with tropical flowers and a fountain. This leads to the next level where you will see the first two of the cottages Bougainvillea and Frangipani which are set in an attractive stone floored courtyard with a fountain, tropical plants and flowers. Passing through this area leads to a terrace that overlooks the pool and the gardens on the level below. To the right a balcony walkway leads you to Jasmine and Hibiscus, they overlook the pool. The pool is 8m x 5m and is shared by the guests, and is on the lower level there are sun loungers an attractive garden that has a variety of tropical plants and fruit trees a large barbecue area and many places to relax in. This property is ideal for couples who want a relaxing break.

Coast/Beach
The charming fishing ports and beaches of El Medano and los Abrigos are 15 minutes drive. El Medano has a golden beach a mountain to climb outstanding restaurants and bars, plus wind surfing and kite surfing for the truly athletic. The more touristy resorts of Los Cristianos and Playa de las Americas with all the attractions are 20 minutes by car. Bahia del Duque offers a golden sandy beach pleasant walks and plenty of up market shopping outlets.

Golf
There are two major golf courses 15 minutes drive away, Golf del Sur and Amarilla Golf. Other courses are in Adeje, Playa de las Americas and the latest Abama golf course, which are a little further to drive to.

Travel
The closest international airport is Reina del Sofia in the south of Tenerife, it's 15 minutes from La Bodega and easy to find we will supply you with a simple map. It is advisable to hire a car, however, it depends on the guests some guests have stayed on the property visited local restaurants and had a fantastic time simply relaxing. It depends on what you want from your holiday.

Distances
San Miguel for shops, bars, restaurants, banks are just 2 minutes walk from La Bodega. El Medano, nice beach and walks very Spanish famous for wind and Kite surfing lots of tapas bars and restaurants 15 minutes by car. Los Abrigos fishing port famous for fresh fish restaurants, 15 minutes by car.

About the owner
Your hosts at La Bodega cottages in San Miguel are Ray and Sheila Atkins. They developed this remarkable property over a period of three years and have been welcoming guests for the last six years. The couple live in a separate property on the site and offer a friendly personal service. They have local knowledge and will help and offer advice on places to visit information on local restaurants and anything you want to know about the island. They have lived in Tenerife for 16 years and know the island very well. Their best recommendations are their guests who return time and time again. They hope to welcome you

Why the owner chose a home in this location
We purchased the property in 1995 and slowly developed the cottages over a period of time. The main reason for purchasing what was really a ruin of old farm buildings and an old house was the amazing potential and great location. We are just 15 minutes from the airport the beaches, golf courses and yet surrounded by an idyllic rural location. The added advantage of having the shops of San Miguel just a few minutes walk away, coupled with the friendliness of the local villagers and the distance from the touristy areas made our choice the right one.

Unique benefits of the property
The benefits of staying at La Bodega are very simple. If you want a relaxing holiday a home from home with all the comforts. Do not want to be surrounded by loads of people, would like to enjoy a location away from the tourist areas, yet be close enough to beaches, would like to enjoy the local restaurants of San Miguel or walk to the bakers for your freshly baked bread for breakfast. Then this could be your ideal holiday destination.
