Coast/Beach
Playa Blanca means "white beach" - however there are more than one. There is a town beach closely flanked by 2 other beaches. Nearby is Papagayo beach which is reputedly the best beach in the Canaries, if not mainland Spain. The nearest beach is a 15 minute walk, 2 mins by car. The town beach is also a few minutes by car. Papagayo is no more than 10 mins. away by car.
Travel
The only airport on the island is Aricife which is a 25 minute car journey. Car hire is cheap on the island and cars can be picked up and left at the airport.
Car hire starts at £65 per week. Taxi from/to airport is approx. £25 each way - car hire is therefore sensible.
There are some great places to visit on the island and so having a car is well worthwhile. The island is only small and so there are no long journeys - even if you travel from one end to the other.
Distances
Playa Blanca is the newest, cleanest and smartest resort on the island. You can walk to the centre (20 mins) or only a few minutes in the car. There is also a good cheap local taxi service. Timanfaya (fire mountain) is only 15 mins drive away and well worth a visit.
Old town Teguise is approximately 30 mins journey. Lovely village with interesting Sunday market.
Caesar Manrique was a renowned local artist. There are many places of interest influenced by him - all roughly 30 mins away.

There are good supermarkets in the vicinity and some excellent restaurants. We provide a brochure when you book which gives details of good places to eat, drink and visit.
There are a number of banks in Playa Blanca and plenty of cash points.
