An iron gate and high walls make it a safe place to bring children and its proximity to the island’s major road network makes exploring easy. Mobile Internet access means you can stay in touch with home or the office from your laptop, and a plasma screen satellite TV can keep you up to date with your favourite programmes. A deep, shaded balcony with plenty of room for comfortable seating and gently swinging hammocks is the perfect place to relax with a drink before dinner after a day in the sun.

Changeover day
Changeover days are flexible. Normal arrival and departure times are after 2pm and before 10am respectively. If you would like these times to be different then please ask as this may be possible depending on other bookings.
| Bedrooms: | Bedroom 1 has a kingsize double bed, a dressing room, a hairdryer, a DVD/CD player. Bedrooms 2 and 3 have twin beds. Bedroom 3 also has a double sofa bed. All have fans and double doors leading out to the pool area. |
| Bathrooms: | Bathroom 1 is en suite to bedroom 1 and has a large Jacuzzi corner bath with shower facility, wash hand basin, lavatory and bidet. Bathroom 2 has a walk-in shower, wash hand basin and lavatory. There is an additional lavatory on the first floor. |
| Kitchen: | The fully fitted kitchen has an extensive array of cooking utensils, cutlery/glasses/china etc, plus an oven and touch sensitive hob, dishwasher, microwave, fridge/freezer, toaster, kettle, juicer, smoothie maker and coffee machine. |
| Utility Room: | There is a utility room on the ground floor housing a washing machine, iron and ironing board. Clothes dry freshly and quickly in the sun - a drying rack and washing line are provided. |
| Living Rooms: | This spacious open plan section has glass floor-to-ceiling windows including 3 double opening doors. Here you have a TV receiving UK terrestrial channels, DVD player, Hifi system, books, games, DVDs, CDs, dining facilities and sofas and chairs. |

Hand towels, bath towels and pool towels are provided for each guest, as is bed linen. If you require more than 6 sets then please ask when booking. These are changed weekly - more often on request for between £25 and £75 depending on numbers of guests. |

Notes on accommodation
All the windows in the living area have vertical slatted blinds that can be adjusted to control the amount of sun entering the room. The 3 sets of double doors here open out onto a huge covered veranda - perfect for relaxing out of the sun. There is a safe downstairs, and mobile internet access.
Put-me-up beds are available on request at a modest extra charge.
In addition to the cot and highchair there is a pushchair, baby bath, baby swim seat, activity mat and bouncy chair for those of you with young children. I also have a stairgate that can be fitted if required.
There is a table tennis table - competitive fun for all!
There is an iron gate protecting the villa from the road, and the perimeter of the grounds is surrounded by a high wall. In this respect it is child friendly, but guests should note that the swimming pool is not fenced off.
Accessibility
The villa is on 2 floors. A spiral wooden staircase takes you from upper to lower inside, and outside stone steps lead down from the upstairs veranda to the pool area. A small flight of steps run from street level to the main floor of the house. The bathrooms and bedrooms are downstairs, and there is a lavatory upstairs. It is unlikely to be suitable for wheelchair users or anybody who has difficulties with stairs.
Outside
The villa has its own large private pool which is heated during the winter months when night time temperatures drop and the water temperature cools down. Steps lead down into the pool at one end. Surrounding the pool is a quite private and extensive tiled sunbathing area with comfortable sun loungers, an outside shower and a fridge. There are shaded areas both upstairs and downstairs if you need to get out of the sun. A table and chairs are available for al fresco dining. Outside lighting means that evenings by the pool are possible after dark. Small garden areas add a tropical feel. Hammocks/hanging chairs are provided both upstairs and down.
An easy to use gas BBQ can be found on the upper terrace and there is a charcoal one by the pool.
Coast/Beach
The local beach is a 15 minute walk away and is currently undergoing extensive renovation at a cost of €1.2m. Work is expected to be complete by early 2012. Beautiful white or black sandy beaches with good facilities (toilets/changing/restaurants etc) are within easy driving distance, 10 - 20 minutes depending on where you choose to go. Descriptions, pictures and locations of numerous beaches have been included in a folder at the villa.
Golf
The villa is within easy driving distance of several superb golf courses, a couple of them international. The nearest is Golf Costa Adeje - about 5 miles away. It was designed by Pepe Gancedo and features 27 holes on wide greens with obstacles such as lakes and gorges. Full details of the courses and how to book are in a folder at the villa.
Travel
The nearest airport is Tenerife South – Reina Sofia – and is about a 20 minute drive away. The journey costs roughly 35 euros in a taxi. Tenerife North – Los Rodeos – will take just over an hour by car. I recommend car hire to get the most from your holiday, but bars and restaurants to suit every age, taste and budget, shops, banks, bars, beach, a chemist, a doctor's surgery and a luxury spa/sports complex are all within easy walking distance of the villa.
Distances
The regional capital of Adeje is just a 10 mins drive and the busy tourist resorts of Playa de las Americas and Los Cristianos are between 10 and 15 mins away by car. Callao Salvaje is on the major road network so travelling farther afield is easy. Close by (within 20 mins drive max) are golf, watersports, gyms, sandy beaches or purpose built lidos and fun things for kids to do such as Siam Park or the aquapark, go-karting or a tropical park with exotic birds and animals.
Further details
If you have a car there is absolutely loads to do on Tenerife. You can easily go whale watching, diving, hang gliding or hiking in beautiful countryside and across rugged hills. If you prefer a less active holiday there is designer goods shopping or you can visit museums, tropical gardens, peaceful Spanish villages, banana plantations, magnificent houses steeped in history, churches and basilicas, fine architecture and much much more. Why not go and experience a fiesta while you are here? Tenerife is an island drenched in history and full of surprises. Whether you wish to soak up the reliable sun in tranquil privacy, party the nights away in bars and restaurants or discover the deeper delights of the island, this is the ideal place from which to do it.

Booking notes
I require a deposit of £150 or 200 Euros to secure your booking. Payment may be made by bank transfer. The balance of your payment is due 8 weeks prior to departure, or on booking if less than 8 weeks before the rental commences. Please contact me for further information, more photographs, directions and key details, and bank information. I ask that you pay a damage deposit of £400 to cover any significant accidents.

About the owner
My name is Rachael and I spend much of my time in Tenerife. I fell in love with the island when I first came here as a tourist 3 years ago. Its landscape, climate, people and way of life appealed to me enormously and I resolved to come and make my life here. I live in a small village just 5 minutes drive from the villa which enables me to make contact with my guests and make sure they are having a fantastic holiday.

Why the owner chose a home in this location
I like Callao Salvaje because it has good amenities, is close to the really busy tourist areas yet away from the commercial hype that can be a bit too much.
Most of the shopkeepers and restaurant owners speak some English so it's perfect for visitors who may worry about being understood. Everywhere welcomes children and the village has a great community spirit.
Unique benefits of the property
I looked at several villas but none gave me the right feeling until I walked into number 21. The view, the shaded veranda, the pool and the feeling of spaciousness were all just perfect. It's an easy distance from everything you need and yet peaceful.
Having holidayed in several villas myself and found many of them lacking in even the most basic of things, I made sure that mine was equipped to a very high standard. At the same time I kept it unfussy and comfortable.
If the comments in my guest book are anything to go by then I made the right decisions! I hope that you will like it too.
