The Calvario Apartments offer modern, luxury accommodation in the alternative destination of La Gomera. The transfer by frequent fast ferry from Los Cristianos is rewarded by your arrival in the capital San Sebastian. It is a local’s town and almost untouched by tourism. The apartments are privately owned by us. We live on Gomera with our young family and can therefore offer a personal service, not only at the booking stage, but also when you arrive. We will meet you at the ferry terminal, drive you with your luggage and settle you into your accommodation. We are also there if required for any queries during your stay. We can arrange any of the activities outlined below in advance of your arrival or just point you in the right direction for the many good restaurants in town!

Apartment 3a comprises of:
Entrance - Access is from the road via external steps at the side of the building.
Kitchen/dining area with table and chairs seating up to 8 people. Recently renovated, modern kitchen with oven/hob, large fridge, microwave, kettle, toaster, coffee machine, water heater and ceiling fan.
Hallway to bathroom with bath/shower, wash basin, hairdryer mirror, bidet and toilet.
Bedroom 1 with double bed, wardrobes, dressing table, bedside table and ceiling fan.
Bedroom 2 is located on 2nd level upper terrace, with double bed, wardrobe, bedside table and ventilator fan.
Bedroom 3 is located on 2nd level upper terrace, with double bed, wardrobe, bedside table and ceiling fan.
Lounge with very comfortable furnishings including couch, chair and large double bed couch, DVD/CD, ventilator fan and patio doors to lower terrace.
Terrace with southeast facing, Views across San Sebastian Bay to the south tip of Tenerife. Seating and tables for relaxation.

All rooms have windows making the accommodation bright and airy!

 

Notes on accommodation
Children are welcome at Apartmentos Calvario. We charge only half price for up to 3 children under 12 years. Babies are also welcome with travel cots, potty and baby listening device available on request. A buggy can also be arranged for those wishing to save themselves the hassle of travelling with one! Sorry, but we do not allow pets. Should you wish to accommodate a larger party, the front doors of each apartment share a common entrance area with additional external door. By closing this and keeping the individual apartment doors open, it is possible to use both apartments as one single unit!

Accessibility
You are required to climb external steps to access the apartments. There is no elevator. Otherwise access is straight forward. If you decide to hire a car to discover La Gomera, you can park briefly at the foot of the steps. Access to bedrooms 2 and 3 on the upper terrace in 3a is via a narrow wooden stairs leading from the lower terrace. Neither terrace is accessible other than from the apartment and so both apartments 3a and 3b are completely separate in terms of access.

Outside
The terraces offer truly stunning views over the town and bay. Southeast facing, early birds can view sunrise over Tenerife and sun worshippers will enjoy sunshine through to late afternoon. Attractive wooden roofing provides good shade for those less keen on direct sun rays. Furniture provides the opportunity to dine on the terrace or to recline and take it easy. The evening provides a particularly special view of San Sebastian.

Coast/Beach
San Sebastian has 2 beaches. One is provided in the shelter of the harbour and Marina. The other is near ‘Club Nautica’ and although more exposed to the open sea, offers a good quiet beach with views across to Tenerife.

Golf is also available on the 18 hole, Tecina Golf Course close to Playa Santiago on the south side of the island. Please contact us for further details.

Special interest holidays
Yacht Sailing- Canary Sail is the local sailing school providing RYA training, inter-island mileage cruises, charter and, subject to availability, 2 and 3 day RYA "Start Yachting" courses. Sport fishing- This Big Game Fishing boat "Bosinegro" offers some of the best days out with deep water fishing available only a few miles off the coast. Diving/snorkeling- Diveart arranges and teaches snorkeling and scuba diving in the local waters. Mountain biking- treks can be arranged either as guided tours or without. "1a Bicicletta" are pleased to offer bus assisted biking throughout the island. Walking- The Garajonay National Park provides some of the best hiking through rain forests anywhere in Europe. Swimming/Tennis at Club Nautico- a beautiful quiet setting for swimming, sauna, tennis, basketball or just relaxing. Whale/Dolphin watching- Excursions with "Tina" from Valle Gran Rey or with "Francisco" from San Sebastian. Summer-supervised Dinghy Sailing- for children of all ages.

Travel
The extra leg of your journey from Tenerife to La Gomera requires a 20min taxi run from Tenerife south airport to Los Cristianos Port and the purchase of a ticket on one of the frequent fast ferry services to San Sebastian. (30-50 mins). In San Sebastian harbour you will be met by us and transferred with your luggage the few mins to your apartment. We will also advise on suitable flight times to and from Tenerife to ensure your connection through to La Gomera runs as smoothly as possible.

Distances
Los Cristianos and San Sebastian 20 miles / 30-50 mins. San Sebastian Port 5 mins drive. 5 mins walk to town. 2 mins walk to supermarket. Within 10 mins walk to beach and Club Nautica.

We can assist in arranging the following activities: Car hire with special discounted rates for our clients at ‘Oasis’ from 27 euros per day. Cycling Bikes for hire from the Marina office. Nursery/activity centre for toddlers from 1 year old and children. Safe, supervised indoor playground allows parents to have free time in town.
