Outside
A gas Bar-B-Que and outdoor furniture is provided on the deck. The Valhalla complex offers a central courtyard hot-tub, and has attractive garden/lawn areas. During summer months, be aware that Whistler is also the home of numerous black bears, and they wander freely throughout the village and have been seen in the Valhalla area.
Coast/Beach
Surrounded by snow-capped mountains and lush rain forests are Lost Lake Beach (15 min walk from Valhalla) and Rainbow Park Beach (25 min walk from Valhalla). Both areas have sandy beaches/lawns, a jetty, swimming platform and clear waters. But remember, the lakes are glacier fed and best enjoyed on a hot, hot day.
Golf
Enjoy a leisurely walk to 2 of Whistler's famous championship golf courses: Whistler Golf Club, Arnold Palmer's first ever Canadian design, or Chateau Whistler Golf Club designed by Robert Trent Jones Jr. Just a short drive away (or take the bus) is Jack Nicklaus' signature design Nicklaus North Golf Course. With a fascinating blend of sprawling fairways, forested borders of ancient cedar & fir, lakes, creeks, waterfalls & wildlife, these 3 courses are favourites amongst the locals and a "must play" on your Whistler golf vacation. All courses offer full service Pro-shop facilities, learning centre, restaurant and much more. And if your game is a little off ... just enjoy the invigorating fresh air and spectacular mountain scenery. Need to practise your swing before hitting the course - visit the Whistler Village driving range just 10 minutes walk from Valhalla. Not enough golf yet? Drive to Pemberton to The Big Sky course or stop at Furry Creek Golf Course en route to Vancouver.
Skiing
Just 10 minutes walk or a free bus ride from Valhalla, Whistler & Blackcomb mountains provide over 8000 acres of terrain, 200+ trails (most groomed daily), a 5280' vertical drop (the highest in North America), 38 lifts and 33' average snowfall, plus numerous terrain parks & half-pipes, so it is easy to see why Whistler Ski Resort is rated #1 in North America. But don't be intimidated - Whistler/Blackcomb has skiing and boarding at all levels, short lift lines and just 1 ticket covers both mountains! Explore these huge mountains with a free Mountain Host guided tour at any level. Improve your ability at the Whistler Ski School with adult, teen, adaptive & children's programs. As host city for the 2010 Winter Olympics you can experience the Olympic Downhill runs and the state-of-the-art Nordic Centre at Callahan Country. For Nordic/cross-country enthusiasts, Whistler Village also has miles of trails (some lit for night skiing), with rental equipment and lessons also available.
Special interest holidays
Whether your special interest is the arts - painting, cookery, music, wine tasting, etc. - or moderate to extreme outdoor activities - hiking, biking (road/mountain/trail), tennis, golf, bungee jumping, zip-trekking, fishing, canoeing, swimming, dog-sledding, heli-hiking/skiing/biking, skiing, snowboarding, snowmobiling, horseback riding - Whistler will have a time and a place for you to participate!
If you are an accomplished or want-to-be artist, bring your easel and palette and capture the spectacular scenery on canvas to take home along with your numerous Whistler vacation memories.
For the biking enthusiast, challenge yourself at North America's #1 Mountain Bike Park, with its numerous ability rated trails, or for a more leisurely bike ride, pedal the extensive network of paved trails on the Valley Trail system, and get out in this beautiful valley.
Whistler is a World-class vacation destination with activities for everyone.
