A scenic 45 minute drive north of Victoria brings you to the Cowichan Valley: "The Warmland", where you will discover an area rich with recreational opportunities. Our property is bordered by forest, to ensure privacy and tranquility! Following the garden path through the vine-covered arbor, you come to a stone patio equipped with a BBQ, table and chairs for relaxing in the sun. After a day of exploring the natural treasures of the Island, enjoy the comfort of the hot tub under a canopy of stars. Lakes, rivers, hiking, kayaking are available for nature lovers. Sail among the magnificent Gulf Islands! There are several golf courses in the Valley, with two only 15 minutes from The Vines!

Changeover day
Preferred changeover day is Saturday during the high season, but is flexible in the off season. We are flexible to your travel needs with time of arrival and departure.

Living Rooms: For your entertainment: 51" TV with surround sound, DVD/video player, assorted videos and DVDs. High speed internet access is available for your laptop computer.
Other: The furnished sunroom has a separate entrance into the garden, and is a great place for reading. A take-a-book/leave-a-book library is available for your use.

Your private patio is equipped with a barbecue, table and chairs with umbrella, and provides access to the shared hot tub on the second-level deck. The garden is bordered by forest, ensuring privacy and tranquility. Sit by the pond and enjoy the lazy meandering of the fish.

Coast/Beach
Swimming and water sports are close by. Drive to Shawnigan Lake in 5 minutes, the Pacific Ocean in 10, Thetis Lake in 20 minutes, Cowichan and Koksilah Rivers in 20 minutes.

Golf
Golf courses abound on Vancouver Island, with several right here in the Cowichan Valley! Two are only 15 minutes from The Vines.

Skiing
Mt. Washington, a 2 hour drive north, is the gateway to Strathcona Park and offers a variety of skiing runs, novice to expert, for both downhill and cross-country enthusiasts. Fall and spring offer hiking with amazing vistas!

Travel
Nanaimo Airport is 45 minutes north. Victoria International Airport is 55 minutes away. Ferry service links the mainland to Vancouver Island, the Gulf Islands, and Washington State. Various private float plane operators provide frequent, convenient service to Vancouver and Seattle.

Distances
Full shopping facilities are available in Mill Bay, just 5 minutes away. Within 30 minutes: Chemainus, famous for its murals; Duncan, "City of Totems"; Cowichan Bay for fresh seafood. Within 45 minutes: Victoria's Inner Harbour; world-famous Butchart Gardens; Saltspring Island with its renowned Saturday market offering fresh local produce, meats, cheese and fabulous crafts.

Further details
The Cowichan Valley is quickly gaining a reputation for fine wine production, and wineries are open for tastings. In addition, a local cidery gives tours and tastings. There are several terrific fine dining restaurants close by.

A 25% non-refundable deposit is required to secure your booking. The balance is due one month prior to your rental period.

About the owner
We are two laid-back retirees who enjoy the natural beauty and tranquility of our country home! Keith chose Canada as his home when he emigrated from the UK in the 1960's, and Cynthia is Canadian born and bred. We welcome guests to The Vines with a bottle of wine, and are happy to discuss areas of interest over a glass on the deck! We respect your privacy at all times, including turning the hot tub over to your exclusive use.
