Distances
Nearest village is Biniaraix, then comes Soller. There are villages along the North West coast of Mallorca which are of interest like Deya, Valldemossa as well as sites like, Sa Calobra and the Lluc Monastry to mention just a few.

Further details
Fornalutx has twice been elected one of Spain's most beautiful and best preserved village. Lovely mountain walks with stunning views wherever you go. Towards the valley of Soller with its lemon and orange groves or up the majestic Tramuntana mountain or charming country roads with the stone terraced landscape with olive groves, sheep and goats. The village itself is a 'living' village with banks, post office, shops, hairdresser, butcher, iron monger, carpenter, fisherman and of course the meeting point, the Plaza, a lovely little square with the church, bars, and restaurants surrounding it. The women, like in the old days, still come and do their laundry, just outside the Es Moli house, in the depot of water from the well. The same water that used to turn the mill wheel of Es Moli; the mill.Soller the nearby town derives its name from the Moorish word sullier which means the golden valley from its orange groves. There was a great trade of the citrus with France and it is said that the Sun King himself, Louis XIV would eat no other oranges than the ones from Soller. Historically it was also an important weaving town. The citrus trade and the weaving industry provided for a private steam railway, carved through the mountain in the late nineteenth century connecting Soller with Palma. An enchanting option to the new toll-road tunnel linking Soller to Palma. A charming antique tram runs regularly between Soller town and the Port of Soller. The Port itself, an attractive sandy cove with beach restaurants but also some fine dining restaurants, unpretentious bars, beach activities as swimming, sailing, canoeing, wind surfing and boat trips. There are tennis courts, gyms, bicycles for hire and lots of other activities in and around Soller and Fornalutx.Deya (Deia) is only a short drive away with its Cala (bay) and picturesque village, painters paradise and nice restaurants to choose from. Between Soller and Deya there are Michelin star restaurants to unpretentious fast food.

Owner profile

About the owner
I have worked in the tourist industry for over 30 years, the last years as General Manager or Director of some of the finest hotels in the world. When I left the hotel industry Dargala Property Investments bought, some old charming houses in the beautiful villages of Fornalutx and Soller. I refurbished them to very high standard and charm and they are now rented for holiday makers to enjoy. They were all on the North West Coast of Mallorca as we think this is the most genuine and beautiful part of the island. Stunning views of the mountain range, small picturesque villages, close to the Port with its boat harbour and beaches. The town of Soller has everything you might need to purchase for a perfect holiday. All the houses have a copy of useful information as well as a list of rest.

Year purchased: 2001

Why the owner chose a home in this location
One of the reason for buying Es Moli, "the mill", was that they had already bought "the miller's" house the previous year and as it is next door and very charming but run down they saw that they could make it into a nice, comfortable rental house with lovely views over the mountains. A house that is refurbished to a high standard with all the commodities and practical equipment you need for a perfect holiday. It is so close to the village square but still so quiet and lovely. The village has twice won a price for "most beautiful village in Spain"!
