El Fandango is a beautiful, spacious finca with 3 large double bedrooms: master bedroom with ensuite bathroom and walk-in closet, two other bedrooms sharing additional shower room, and a separate guest house in the traditional rustic style offering a further two bedrooms, each with ensuite bathroom. The main house is set on a raised elevation and looks out over 5 acres of fruit and olive trees. The expansive pool patio and outside dining areas are perfect places to unwind and spend time re-connecting with family and friends . . . or when you want to escape from the sun on the hottest days, the house and guest suites are fully air-conditioned. El Fandango is at the heart of the authentic, picturesque Mallorca, still unspoiled and ideal for exploring on bike, on foot or by car. The house is easy to find from the airport, and it's close to Palma so you can access the shopping, fine dining and nightlife during your stay. The gorgeous beaches of northern Mallorca are just over 30 mins away.

Notes on accommodation
Sorry, no smokers or pets.

This house is unsuitable for families with very young children unless those children are supervised at all times.

The pool is not fenced off, and the perimeter railings and cabling on the raised patio around the house are designed to stop adults walking over the edge, not children crawling under the wires.

Because the house sits in its own citrus grove, and also benefits from a large kitchen garden, guests are welcome to pick and use whatever fresh produce is in season. Our oranges and lemons are not sprayed with chemicals, and if you're British or German the juice from this wholesome, sun-ripened fruit is like nothing you've ever experienced!

The main house has underfloor heating and a wood-burning stove, with electric heating on the upper floor, and the guest house has electric heating throughout, so El Fandango is comfortable for winter rentals as well as being air-conditioned during the warmer seasons.

No access ramps for wheelchair users.

Outside
The 10m x 5m swimming pool uses a saltwater system. It has three large steps at the shallow end, making it perfect for chatting and chilling out as well as swimming. The pool is cleaned regularly.

The large sun terrace features Westminster outdoor furniture (seats 8) and a Glatz parasol, as well as 3 teak pool loungers. (BBQ area at back). Outside the kitchen is a 2nd terrace with a fine oak table where you can enjoy alfresco dining (seats 8). The outside dining area has 3 awnings for shade but it can get pretty hot at midday--you may prefer to have your lunch inside in the comfort of the air-conditioned dining room. There is a small terrace on the east side, shaded by olive trees, perfect for enjoying an afternoon drink or for reading.

The occupants of the master bedroom get their own upstairs terrace with table and chairs for two. The terrace has good shade in the morning, so it's a beautiful place to enjoy breakfast while looking out over the orange groves and woods beyond.

Coast/Beach
The beautiful beaches of northern Mallorca are 30-45 mins drive away. But tempting as the beaches undoubtedly are, the central part of the island retains an unspoiled charm that, once experienced, may prove just as irresistible to visitors. All around are fields of vivid red soil, gnarled olive trees and gentle rolling hills, criss-crossed with scores of narrow and picturesque country lanes . . . while further to the west stretch the majestic Tramuntana mountains. Come and explore!

Further details
The small and delightful town of Sineu--erstwhile summer residence of the kings of the ancient Kingdom of Mallorca--is dominated by its Gothic cathedral. Wednesday is market day, when the whole central area comes alive with stalls selling everything from ceramics, clothes and leather goods to fresh fish and live (!) chickens. Sineu also offers all the regular shops and services you'll need: supermarket, banks, newsagents, pharmacy, medical clinic and of course a bakery (also selling very decent red wine directly from the barrel at an unbelievably low price).

Around the market square and behind the cathedral you'll find plenty of charming cafes where you can enjoy a cortado or a cerveza or dos . . . and the town also boasts the best, oldest, and most renowned cellar restaurants on the island.

The much larger town of Inca is 10 mins drive away, with major supermarkets, leading high street stores, independent shops and a full range of financial and medical services.

Activities:
This is an idyllic area for cycling, hiking and horse-riding, or exploring by car. Prepare to be enchanted!

Balance of rental 60 days before arrival.

Cancellations:
Cancellation from Day 59 to 31 before arrival: 30% deposit will be retained.
Cancellation from Day 30 to day of arrival: 100% of rental will be retained.

Damages Deposit:
Damages deposit of 1,000 euros payable at least 7 days before arrival. (The damages deposit will be refunded in full within 3 weeks of end of stay, if there have been no damage or breakages at the villa.)

About the owner
I'm a professional architectural photographer and live with my partner, Almudena, in Hampstead in North London. It's a nice part of the city, but for years we have dreamed of owning a traditional stone finca in the Spanish countryside. Early this year, our dream came true and we bought El Fandango, set in over five acres of gorgeous citrus groves, in the fantastic international-flavoured island of Mallorca. We love it here, and think you will too!

Why the owner chose a home in this location
El Fandango is a beautiful property in unspoiled countryside, but still with very easy and fast access to Palma. We love the centre of the island, which, we have found, retains the authentic historic feel of Mallorca much more than the majority of the coastal towns, and has its own captivating beauty. El Fandango nestles in a secluded citrus grove surrounded by higher trees around the periphery of the property. As soon as you hop on a bike and pedal down to the bottom of the lane, however, you move from secluded intimacy to some of the most stirring views on the island: the Tramuntana mountains stretching out across the horizon in all their majestic beauty. This is a simply fantastic area for cycle touring, predominantly flat, with scores of narrow and picturesque country lanes to explore.

Unique benefits of the property
Very secluded gated property, at the end of a narrow country lane. Just outside Sineu, but seemingly in the middle of woodlands, so with a real feel of intimacy. Palma is just a half hour's drive away, and, because the house lies at the very centre of Mallorca, nowhere on the island is really very far away.
