The villa is situated on the south-east corner of the island just 15 minutes from the airport and 10 minutes from the capital, Mahon. Apart from being the largest natural port in Europe, Mahon is a bustling town full of shops and restaurants and frequented by cruise ships from all over the world. The villa overlooks the inlet to the harbour. From the terrace you can observe craft of all sizes entering and leaving the port about 0.5km away. Cala Llonga is a quiet residential area and ideal for people who want to get away from it all and yet have the convenience of the main town and the popular Mesquida beach only a few minutes car drive away.

Notes on accommodation
The villa has been decorated to a high standard.
The sitting room and 2 of the bedrooms have double doors that open up on to the pool area. The Indian Suite on the first floor has a large corner bath and shower. There is a CD and radio plus TV. The television receives all major UK stations. We also have Spanish TV. In order to keep the villa in tip top condition we have a pool man who arrives Wednesdays and Saturdays in the mornings and a gardener who visits once every 2 weeks. The design of the villa is light and airy with an open plan dining and sitting room. We have air-conditioning in this area in case it gets really hot. Outside
The garden, which is managed by an irrigation system, is very well stocked with perennial plants of all varieties and colours. At the front of the villa there are 2 mature palm trees supporting a hammock. The terrace barbecue is built-in. In summer the pool is attended to twice a week. There are no other buildings to three sides of the property offering a very private spaace to relax in.

Coast/Beach
The nearest beach is Cala Mesquida and is about 7 minutes drive away. This is a pretty, quiet, sandy beach with beautiful clear, blue waters and is much favoured by the locals. You can park close to the beach and then take a short walk. There are many more sandy beaches within 10 - 15 minutes by car. Try Es Grau, a shallow 'U' shaped inlet with extremely shallow water - ideal for small children. You can hire a boat here and explore the lovely coves and beaches inaccessible by land.

Golf
We have an 18 hole golf course 20 minutes away by car at Son Parc.

Travel
Mahon airport is 15 minutes by car.
Car hire can be arranged by the owners through Doncars.

Further details
Cala Llonga is a residential area and will suit those people who are looking for peace plus closeness to all amenities. A car is essential as there is no public transport in this area as yet. However cabs can easily be booked and normally arrive within 10 to 15 minutes. The cost of a ride into town is about £6.00. Cala Llonga is one of the most sought after areas on the island due to its natural beauty and views of the harbour. The villa is detached and most of the bedrooms and living accommodation is on one level, with a fourth bedroom suite upstairs which has views overlooking the fort and sea. It is very peaceful and in the main you cannot be overlooked by neighbours. There is plenty of space between the houses.

The area is particularly good for walking. There are many country ramble opportunities and stunning views from all directions to be had of the port and city. Mahon is a most beautiful city combining old markets for fish and general produce and open pedestrian precincts hosting thoroughly modern shops such as Mango. At the other end of the island, 40 minutes by car, you will find an equally attractive town called Ciutadella, the original capital, whose architecture was heavily influenced by the Moors. Menorca is a registered biosphere and as such there are many planning restrictions in order to keep the island as natural as possible. For example there is a nature reserve close to the villa called S'Albufera which is full of bird life and where you can spend a day walking and picnicking. As you would expect the waters around the island are extremely clear. Menorca does not pretend to have the night life of Ibiza but there are discos and bars for the young and a huge choice of water side restaurants for all within a short drive from the villa.

In the villa you will find a list of amenities, recommmended restaurants and shops. If you are arriving late in the day we can arrange a basic food package for you.

About the owner
My wife and I have two villas in Spain one of which we built from scratch. We have also recently refurbished a Regency flat in Brighton. We both enjoy working with property and my wife is a well known furniture designer. A vacation is possibly the most important investment a person makes in one year and we take great pleasure in making their stay in one of our properties something to enjoy and remember.

Why the owner chose a home in this location
Menorca was the first house we bought in Spain. The island is in our opinion the most beautiful in the Balearics. The beaches are sand and ideal for families with children. Menorca is a bit like Cornwall with added sun.
