Welcome to our apartment, 'Buena Vista', 47 El Alcor. We think it is aptly named as Buena Vista means 'good view' in Spanish. It is a fully equipped apartment, simply furnished in traditional Menorcan style suitable to accommodate four people comfortably. It has wonderful views across the bay and out to the lighthouse on Cap Cavalleria. The apartment is approached through a private courtyard via a few steps to the front door with further steps down giving access to the courtyards below where you can take a 'tapas' for lunch, an early evening stroll or late drink. A TV with DVD player and CD/radio/cassette player are there for your enjoyment, but to preserve the tranquil atmosphere not too loud please. All the facilities needed to make your stay enjoyable are included.

Changeover day
Changeover day is usually Friday but other arrangements can be accepted after contacting the owners.
| Bedrooms: | Bedroom 1 has twin beds, fitted wardrobes and is traditionally furnished. Bedroom two has twin beds, similarly furnished. Both rooms are equipped with ceiling fans. |
| Bathrooms: | The sizeable bathroom has bath with shower over, wash-hand basin in vanity base, wc and bidet. There is also a washing machine and tumble drier. |
| Kitchen: | The apartment has a recently fitted, well-appointed and fully self-contained kitchen equipped with four burner gas hob and electric oven, fridge/freezer, microwave and ample space and facilities for those wishing to self-cater. |
| Utility Room: | There is a storage facility for iron/ironing board, vacuum cleaner, broom, mop and bucket and dust-pan and brush for the occasional spills. |
| Living Rooms: | The comfortable lounge/dining room has an enclosed terrace offering the most amazing views over the sea, gardens and complex. Seating is arranged to allow guests to relax after a busy day. The dining area has adequate seating for four adults. |
| Other: | The outside terrace, although small, affords stunning views of the area, and of course, offers the chance to enjoy the sun or shade as desired. It has a table and four chairs to enable guests to enjoy an alfresco meal or drink. |
| Cleaning/towels/ linen/maid service: |
Linen and towels are included in the rental price and are changed weekly. Cleaned prior to arrival and in the event of a two week stay can be cleaned mid-stay by local arrangement. Beach towels are not included. |

Notes on accommodation
Since the apartment has a high aspect with balustrades on open terraces it may not be suitable for young children unsupervised.
Accessibility
Access to the community of El Alcor is quite easy with parking close by, but with steps up to the apartment suitability for those with mobility problems should be considered.
Outside
'Buena Vista' is situated in the community of El Alcor, part of the Playa Fornells development. Each community can be experienced on foot for those wishing to explore. Superb landscaped gardens are there for the visitor to enjoy and although El Alcor does not have a swimming pool a leisurely 5 minute stroll to the Club Bergantin will afford the guest use of their pool as is the case with other swimming pools in the area. A loose arrangement is where guests have lunch or buy drinks on site in return for use of the facilities.
Coast/Beach
Cala Tirant, a fine beach, is only a step away and with its soft white sand and gently sloping beach bathing is safe for all. Many superb beaches are a short drive away and their clear waters are a must for the proficient swimmer or snorkeler to enjoy. The more popular beaches are manned by life-guards so safety is always assured. Sea angling can be enjoyed from the rocky outcrops on the headlands where the fish are always hungry. SCUBA diving trips can be arranged locally.
Golf
Golf at Son Parc is but a 10 minute drive away. The course is considered testing set in attractive surroundings. There is a superb beach nearby for the non-golfers to enjoy whilst their partners play.
Special interest holidays
Menorca, one of the four Balearic Islands, is a small quiet island perfect for a relaxing holiday to enjoy sun, sea and sand on one of its many beaches. For those who are not so interested in in the beach life Menorca, steeped in history, is easily explored by car, bus, bike or on foot. The capital, Mahon, is where Nelson hid his fleet during the Napoleonic Wars and historic links with the British are still apparent even today. Ciutadella, the Moorish capital, older and possibly more romantic is situated at the western tip of the island, about 20 minutes away by car. Other sites of interest to the historian will include the 'Talleots'. Ancient monuments built by early settlers of the island and still in a remarkably good condition even today. Other activities include bird-watching and walking particularly in spring and late summer when birds are migrating and flowers are in bloom and it is cooler.
Travel
Travel to and from Mahon (MAH) airport couldn't be simpler with many car hire companies operating out of the terminal building for the travellers convenience. For those not hiring a car local taxi and bus services are very good and not overly expensive. The transfer time to Fornells, at the northern end of the island, by car is approximately 25 minutes. Bus services on the island are fairly comprehensive and reasonably priced.
Distances
Fornells is within easy distance of most of the facilities needed to make any holiday enjoyable. On site are two supermarkets a short walk away and local bars are but a step away.
Es Mercadal, a traditional market town, is about 5km away and here guests will find a wider variety of shops available for their convenience. Larger towns, such as Mahon and Ciutadella are themselves not far by car. In fact, the whole island is quite small, but then again that's its charm.
Further details
To the gastronome, Menorca should be seen as the home of sea-food cuisine. Because of its close proximity to the sea fresh fish and crustacean are available daily and many restaurants specialise in its preparation for the gourmets delight.
'Tapas' is another experience for the visitor to try with many small tapas bars and restaurants down by the harbour to enjoy new dishes accompanied by a jug of Sangria, a cold beer or glass of wine. Other services that may be of interest to the visitor such as banks, Exchange offices or Mobile 'phone shops (for top-ups) are available in the larger towns.

About the owner
Gerry and Liz Dowsett have been visiting Menorca for 20 years and have been owners for the last 7. Both are retired and enjoying their time travelling at home and abroad, they bought their apartment as part of their retirement plan. Their requirement was to have a home both in the South of England and also abroad between which they could travel easily, enjoying the best of both worlds in each place.

Having somewhere like Playa Fornells on Menorca allows them to find a complete lifestyle change for the duration of their visits. The island is a haven of peace and tranquility with beautiful beaches, sumptuous restaurants to enjoy and lazy, sunset bars to experience whilst enjoying a drink or two.
