Why the owner chose a home in this location
The location of the house is absolutely stunning. Nature at its best. It sits on the edge of the Mediterranean. When I first saw it, the accessibility to the sea was the instant attraction. I just wanted to sit on the rocks, with my feet in the water and watch.
CalaSanEstaban, is one of only three remaining "fishing villages" in Menorca. No fishing as such goes on now with the exception of the occasional local with a rod catching his supper for the barbecue!
There are beautiful scenic walks to go on which hug the coastline. Or turn inland and walk to the nearby town of Es Castell with its lovely bars and restaurants.
The house has its own charm, it is lovely. Quaint with its wooden beams and wood burning stove but comfortable with all modern conveniences.
Unique benefits of the property
The house faces directly to the sea.So from every room, the sea is in front of you. The benefits are being so much in the fresh air and the closeness to the sea, which for me is very special. As human beings our make up is supposed to be very similar to the ions of the sea. Hence a feeling of peacefulness and calmness pervades.
It is unique also to be able to watch Menorquin life. Sunday is usually the busiest when the locals go out in their boats. Visiting boats also come in to the Cove to admire the natural beauty of the area.
It is lovely to sit under cover in the outdoor dining area having lunch and observe the goings on. Quite soon you catch on to the local behaviours. Such as who swims in the early morning, who prefers to swim in the late afternoon. The habits of the cockerels!
