Outside
The main attraction of El Molinero is the roof terrace and the balcony both with stunning views. Watching the sun painting the mountains in all shades of reds and pinks as it is going down is breathtaking. The terrace has two sitting areas, in the sun and in the shade as well as a teak dining table with 8 chairs. It has a Barbecue, a working area and a sink. There is also a sun chair.
Coast/Beach
The nearest beaches are in Puerto Soller. There is a few to choose from and either with sand, pebble or rock. Puerto Soller is 10 minutes drive away. Along this North Western Coastline there are otherwise lovely coves and very clean water. Other popular beaches are in "Cala" (cove) Deia and Valldemossa, Sa Calobra and Cala Tuent.
Golf
The nearest golf course is 15-20 minutes away by car on the road to Palma and called Son Termens. There is a total of 23 golf courses (2009) on the island.
Travel
As the public transport is scarce a car is recommended. Fornalutx to Palma is about 30 minutes drive through the tunnel. To the airport it takes about 40 minutes. Add an extra 5 - 10 minutes depending on the traffic. If you are coming with the ferry the Port is in Palma.
Distances
Nearest village is Biniaraix, then comes Soller and Puerto Soller. There are villages along the North West coast of Mallorca which are of interest, like Deia and Valldemossa as well as sites like, Sa Calobra and the Lluc Monastery to mention a few.
Further details
Fornalutx has twice been elected one of Spain's most beautiful and best preserved village. Lovely mountain walks with stunning views wherever you go. Towards the valley of Soller with its lemon and orange groves or up the majestic Tramuntana mountain or charming country roads with the stone terraced landscape with olive groves, sheep and goats. The village itself is a 'living' village with banks, post office, shops, hairdresser, butcher, iron monger, carpenter, fisherman and of course the meeting point, the plaza, a lovely little square with the church, bars, and restaurants surrounding it. The women, like in the old days, still come and do their laundry, just outside the Es Moli house, in the depot of water from the well. The same water that used to turn the mill wheel of Es Moli; the mill (our other house).
Soller the nearby town derives its name from the Moorish word sullier which means the golden valley from its orange groves. There was a great trade of the citrus with France and it is said that the Sun King himself, Louis XIV would eat no other oranges than the ones from Soller. Historically it was also an important weaving town. The citrus trade and the weaving industry provided for a private steam railway, carved through the mountain in the late nineteenth century connecting Soller with Palma. An enchanting option to the new toll-road tunnel linking Soller to Palma. A charming antique tram runs regularly between Soller town and the Port of Soller.
The Port itself, an attractive sandy cove with beach restaurants but also some fine dining restaurants, unpretentious bars, beach activities as swimming, sailing, canoeing, wind surfing and boat trips. There are tennis courts, gyms, bicycles for hire and lots of other activities in and around Soller/Fornalutx. Deya (Deia)and Valldemossa are well know villages and a short drive away along the spectacular coast road. Deya and Cala (the bay) Deya also have great variety of restaurants. Deya, a painters paradise.

Owner profile
About the owner
I have worked in the tourist industry for over 30 years, the last years as General Manager or Director of some of the finest hotels in the world. When I left the hotel industry Dargala Property Investments bought, some old charming houses in the beautiful villages of Fornalutx and Soller. I refurbished them to very high standard and charm and they are now rented for holiday makers to enjoy. They were all on the North West Coast of Mallorca as we think this is the most genuine and beautiful part of the island. Stunning views of the mountain range, small picturesque villages, close to the Port with its boat harbour and beaches. The town of Soller has everything you might need to purchase for a perfect holiday. All the houses have a copy of useful information as well as a list of rest.
Year purchased: 2000
Why the owner chose a home in this location
After having looked at some 30 plus properties in the area Deia, Soller, Biniaraix and Fornalutx they found El Molinero which was in a bad state and needed refurbishment. When they had climbed all the stairs and went out on the roof terrace and saw the view, a cold but sunny day in February with the mountain top covered in snow and the rest green from all the trees they knew they had found what they were looking for. I and my family have spent many lovely years in the house. The village house is charming. Fornalutx is also a delightful village to live in.The village has twice won a price for "most beautiful village in Spain"!
Unique benefits of the property
The view, the location so close to the village square and yet still so peaceful. A house that is refurbished to a high standard with all the commodities and practical equipment you need for a perfect holiday.
