The resort of Cala D'Or is 45 mins drive from Palma Airport and the apartment is part of a newly built (2008) gated complex with pool and landscaped gardens, a 7 min stroll from the popular Marina and its excellent restaurants, bars and cafes. The vibrant Cala D'Or town centre is only 10 mins walk away with many bars, restaurants, designer shops as well as the practical stuff like banks, pharmacy, post office and supermarkets. Although hiring a car is recommended to get the most out of your visit it is not essential, the local road train will get you around the resort and stops at all the local beaches and coves. Good transport from/to the airport with coach/bus and there are many taxis serving the area. Within 10 mins drive is the beautiful Mondrago Natural Park and Val D'Or Golf, one of the most attractive courses on Mallorca for 18 holes or just a relaxing lunch. Son Antem and Capdepera courses are a short drive away.

Changeover day
We try to be as flexible as possible to allow you to make the best travel arrangements, this may be difficult at busy times, we suggest you check apartment availability before booking flights. Apartment is available from 2pm, departure by 10am.

Notes on accommodation
Ideal for families with young children, the private grounds with lawned and shaded areas adjacent to the pools are secure with pedestrian and vehicle access via the electric gated entrance. Please note - this is a non smoking apartment.
Accessibility
The apartment is on the second floor, there is a lift (6 person) and stairs to each floor. Apartment is on one level throughout.
Outside
2 pools with sun loungers, garden areas with lawn and trees/shrubs, numbered parking space allocated for the apartment.
Coast/Beach
The Cala D’Or areas many rocky coves with clear water leading to sandy beaches are very popular & can be quite crowded in mid summer. The largest, Cala Gran in the heart of the town, Cala Serena, Cala Ferrera are all within a few minutes of the apartment. Cala Esmeralda is small, pretty & has retained much of its original charm with the buildings set back from the beach. Spend a relaxing day at Mondragó Natural Park, 10 mins drive and, like all the beaches, on the road train route.
Golf
There are a number of courses on Mallorca and most can be reached within an hour or so by car. In and around the Cal D’Or area Val D’Or Golf is a 10 min drive, it has 18 well maintained holes, driving range and a clubhouse with shop bars and restaurant, very good for lunch with wonderful views down to the coast. Within 30 mins are Son Antem (near Llucmajor), Son Servera (Porto Cristo) and Capdepera (Cala Rajada) courses.
Special interest holidays
The marina has sailing, motor boat & jet ski charters, there is a Padi registered dive centre at Cala Gran beach and Mallorca is a popular destination for cyclist particularly during the mild winter months. The Caves of Drach are 20 mins away in Porto Cristo and a must see.
Travel
Palma airport 45 mins, taxi fares can be negotiated before and expect to pay around €60-70. Hiring a car is good value and recommended to get the most out of your visit but it’s not essential, the local road train will get you around the resort and stops at all the local beaches. Coach operators offer good value transfers and public buses run from Palma to Cala D'Or on a regular basis through the summer.

A deposit of 25% is required on reservation, the balance payable 8 weeks before departure. Cancellation charges apply after this date. 8-4 weeks 50% refund 4-3 weeks 25% refund, 3 weeks or less no refund.
A refundable deposit of £250 is required to cover any damage or loss.

About the owner
Jane and I are married, we have two teenage sons who have taught us all we know about the 'Hotel' business and a Beardie called Doyle. We live in the midlands on the outskirts of Coventry and have been going to Mallorca since before kids and have grown to love its charm and simplicity.

Why the owner chose an apartment in this location
We have loved Mallorca from the first time we came, Cala d'Or was recommended to us about 10 years ago when we were looking for a nice family location and it is perfect. Most people we have met over the years have been there before and many come back over again. When we were looking to buy we originally looked in mainland Spain, we didnt think we could afford to buy in Mallorca but then in 2007 we found out about this El Peurto II development and it's great location and the rest, as they say, was history. We have made some great friends amongst the other owners, restaurants and residents, we love it and think you will too.
Unique benefits of the property
El Puerto II is a relatively small, privately owned development. The owners take great care in the site and because it is private it is never particularly busy, even in August, as everyone takes different holidays and not all are renting. It's location is perfect for us, 5 mins to the beautiful Marina and it's great restaurants and bars, we love watching the world go by or strolling off our dinner. The town is close enough to walk in 10 mins but we are off the beaten track so very quiet, especially at night. The finish on the apartments is good, Taylor Wimpy are a British firm with 25+ years in Spain so good quality and sympathetic with the area.
