This is a family house of character, comfort and style with modern installations, oil fired central heating and unlimited hot water. It is well proportioned, large and spacious with various outdoor patio areas around the grassy garden. Ses Salinas is a small nucleus of mostly individual houses set on the west side of Fornells Bay, orientated very much towards sailing and boating. There are two restaurants and a village shop. A cycle path and pavement join Ses Salinas to Fornells village in a 5 min ride/20 min walk. Fornells is a quiet picturesque fishing village, famous for its restaurants and multiple water sports (diving, kayaking, sailing, windsurfing, boat-charter and motor boating). For many years it has been very popular with a select group of families from Madrid and Barcelona, and still remains so.

Changeover day
The rentals are by weeks and the changeover day is preferably a Monday, but we can come to some arrangement.

Bedroom 5 with twin sharing bathroom with 4.
Bathrooms: All 3 bathrooms have baths with overhead showers, loos and hand basins. Upstairs both have bidets.
Kitchen: Cooker: 5 ring gas hob on central isle with cupboards, turbo electric oven, large fridge/freezer, dishwasher, microwave, blenders, food processor, toaster, electric kettle, extensive supply of cooking utensils, crockery, cutlery, dishes and bowls.
Utility Room: Washing machine, dryer, sink, store cupboards.
Living Rooms: Kitchen/dining/living rooms are inter-linked through two open doorways. From living room a sliding door gives onto a covered patio. Also accessed from the living room is a large cane covered terrace for cool dinning out. TV, DVD and CD and B&O speakers.
Other: The landing leads to the three upstairs bedrooms and bathrooms, the study/library with wifi connection and out on to the upstairs patio which has pretty views and French doors leading into master bedroom. Wifi internet connection throughout.
Cleaning/towels/
linen/maid service:
House is handed over, made-up and ready complete with linen and towels. NOT provided are beach or pool towels. Maid service is strongly recommended.

 

Notes on accommodation
Master bedroom is air-conditioned. The house has been a family home and therefore well suited to children. The entrance from the street is gated off and the house can be reached from two sides. House and garden are on the same level, except for two steps at one entrance which can which can be avoided. The pool can have wooden barriers if requested (as seen in photograph).

Outside
Cool outside breakfast area under vine between garage and house. A shaded pergola with hammocks by the pool. A selection of wooden garden furniture and tables deck chairs and chaise longes. BBQ by the garden and outside dinning area. A large lawn between house and swimming pool which is 8m x 4m x 1.50m deep, accessed at both ends by built-in steps. The house is set back off the road with a front garden with trees and climbing bougainvillea which gives onto the street and the private back garden/lawn/pool at the rear.

Coast/Beach
Anything from 3 - 20 minutes by car takes one to a variety of north coast sandy beaches, Tirant, the closest then Caballeria, Binime´la and Pregonda. Swimming is also very popular from Ses Salinas jetty just a stones throw from the house. In Fornells are various swimming platforms with good snorkeling. There are various beaches along the shore of the far side which can be reached by boat or Kayak. In the other direction, 10 minutes by car is Son parc, another favorite!

Golf
Son Parc 18 hole golf course is a 10 minute drive away.

Travel
Mahon International airport is half an hour away. Car-hire is recommended but not essential. The bus services run frequently now from Fornells to Mahon and Mercadal where there are other links to Es Mijorn and to Cuidadela, a very attractive old town, famous for its San Juan fiestas!

Distances
Fornells 3km, Em Mercadal 8kms, Mahon 25kms, Cuitadela 25kms. A very central position easy 20 minute by car to Santo Tomas beach, a favorite with small children with its shallow crystalline waters and soft white sand a 5 minute drive from Es Mijorn Gran.

Further details
In Ses Salinas there is a village shop selling more than basics. There is a restaurant specialising in good meat, salads and home made desserts. The other has spectacular views over the bay and one eats very well, they have a very imaginative modern cuisine, much on the lines of the various famous Spanish chefs of the day. Fornells has a good selection of restaurants, from fresh fish to pizzerias and of course Tapas. There are two supermarkets and a fish shop in the village. In Mercadal which is a small town there are shops for almost everything and a fuel station.

On making enquiries by email, your request will be confirmed by us by email and then we would expect a 30% deposit to hold your reservation. The full amount payable by arrangement in euros. A 500 euro deposit is required against damages.
