Coast/Beach
In Arenal d’en Castell the arched beach has soft, golden sand and calm, warm waters making it ideal for the little ones to play safely. This beach is also popular for water sports, with windsurfing and water-skiing available, as well as pedalos for hire. Addaia is close to Fornells which is famous for its fish restaurants and water sports, and one of the safest beaches on the island - Es Grau. Here you can walk out a long way before the depth increases.
Golf
Son Parc is an easy 10 mins drive away. A challenging 18 holes in beautiful surroundings with a friendly clubhouse and good menu, which is open to all. Clubs and buggies can be hired. There are also tennis courts on site, and a lovely safe, sandy beach a few minutes away.
Travel
Mahon airport is a comfortable 20 minutes drive away, and we highly recommend car hire to enable you to enjoy the island.
Distances
Nowhere is far away - you can drive top to bottom in 20 mins and across in 35 mins, so there's no excuse for staying in one place! The capital, Mahon, is a mere 15 minute drive, and, due to the lack of traffic, it's never difficult to reach any destination you desire.
Further details
Eating and drinking venues - Addaia is fortunate to have a good selection of places to eat and drink: El Castillo - here they speak English and Spanish, and you are guaranteed a great meal all freshly prepared at reasonable prices (in particular the home made puddings!). Keep an eye out for the evening entertainment. Bar Pins - again, English and Spanish speaking; you will be assured of a good welcome with good food and entertainment too. Corner Bar - fancy a pint of Guinness?? Then this is the place to go. Great for sports fans, with big screen Sky TV and tapas! Restaurant Addaia - A more traditional restaurant, serving typical Spanish cuisine at reasonable prices. Puerto Addaia Bar - a small 'local' bar down at the port, where it is really nice to sit down and watch the boats go by.
Other amenities - there is a mini-market, where you can pretty much buy everything for your day-to-day needs, and the bread is freshly baked on the premises. Just along from the mini-market is the gift shop, where you can buy your newspapers and magazines too. At the bottom of the steps leading down from El Castillo is a public phone booth, and its worth buying a cheap phone card for 5 euros which normally gives you a couple of hundred minutes back to the UK.
Diving in the area is superb, and there is an excellent dive centre in Addaia, 'Ulmo Diving', offering a full range of courses for all levels from try-dive upwards. Much of the North Coast is a marine park with plenty of life above and below the water. Spring and Autumn are very popular for walking holidays when you can enjoy Menorca's profusion of wild flowers and bird life. Horse back riding, tennis, cycling, windsurfing, dinghy sailing and kayaking are all within easy reach. There are several yacht and boat charter companies on the Island. So, hopefully, something for everyone!
