Villa Maria was built over 25 years ago by a local Ibithenco artist. It is a two story house with a separate painter’s studio which houses one of the bedroom's/suite. It sits in its own well established grounds which include many beautiful trees (sabena pines, mimosa, fig, pomegranate, almond, lemon, orange and apricot). It has a creative rustic feel and is fully modernised. The swimming pool is surrounded by local stone giving it an organic feel. The front of the house has views out over a wide valley and gets beautiful sunrises over the Benimussa Hills. The swimming pool catches the last of the evening sun as it is situated in the West most corner of the property and you can watch the sun going down from either of the two upstairs balconies. The property is on the San Jose/San Antonio road - just 20 minutes drive from the airport and 10 minutes from the wonderful SW beaches including Cala Carbo and Cala Jondal.

Notes on accommodation
The house is well suited to babies with the dark downstairs bedroom particularily good for daytime naps. We have a travel cot and high chair, baby bath and changing mat all available on request.
Accessibility
The property is not specifically wheelchair accessible but with a downstairs bedroom and bathroom is suitable for people with restricted mobility. The studio building is also on ground floor level with double doors (no step) and large floor space. It has a single step down to the shower room.
Outside
There are numerous outdoor seating areas at Villa Maria...the largest (seating 10 around an oak table) is under the bamboo shade next to the pool. There are 8 sun loungers. The barbeque area is in between the house and the studio behind the rosemary flowerbed (nice to chuck on for a bit of extra flavour!)...There is also a table and chairs overlooking the fruit garden perfect for an early sunrise breakfast.
There is plenty of parking (space for at least 3/4 cars). The pool is 8m x 4m and private - it's over 2 metres deep but has a large ledge at the end perfect for staying cool without effort. There are two upstairs balconies - one off bedroom 1 with views from east to west. One off the upstairs corridor with westerly views.
Coast/Beach
The nearest beaches are Cala Salada, Cala Gracio and Cala Gracioneta just north of San Antonio. They are all about 10 minutes away. The house is also only 15 minutes from Cala Jondal, Cala Carbo, Es Xarcu etc...the most beautiful southern beaches.
Being just off the San Jose road it is an easy drive over to Salinas (Jockey Club has high chairs!), missing all the Ibiza Town traffic.
Golf
There are golf courses on the Island over in Roca Llisa about 30 minutes drive from the house.
Special interest holidays
Ibiza is known for clubbing, it's easy to find...go to any bar and pick up one of the free DJ magazines - they have details of all the club/bar nights, who's playing etc. They are also really useful for the phone numbers of the more fashionable bars as these get very booked up in the peak season. Ibiza is also known as a nature reserve and some of the most wonderful things can be found while driving around the Island...vertiginous cliffs, white sand beaches, black sand beaches...amazing red soil countryside and graphic salt flats. The local restaurants are great, it's fun to stop randomly for 'pan con tomate and jamon'. It's really worth a trip to Pou des Lleo one morning - it's the first place on the island to see the sunrise and absolutely stunning. Ibiza is also great for holistic interests and many people feel a real energy to the island. We have hosted Kundalini Yoga sessions in the studio in the winter. It's easy to find out about this, you'll know who to ask!
Travel
The house is situated 20 minutes/17km from Ibiza airport (all intl flights). 30 minutes from Ibiza port (boats to Palma and Barcelona) and 10 minutes from San Antonio port (boats to Alicante, Denia, Valencia and Barcelona).

San Antonio 3km. Sant Agusti 2km. San Jose 6km. Ibiza Town 20km. Many beaches within a 10 minute drive.
Further details
There is a Spa supermarket just down the road from the house which does great sandwiches to take to the beach. There is also a Spanish restaurant called Sa Soca not 5 minutes walk. The supermarket Suma is on Av Sant Agusti - 1.5km away.
5km nightclub is not far along the airport road and is always fun... pop into San An for Ibiza Rocks at Bar M and Pete Tong's night at Eden.
San Jose is a great little town with good shopping and bars including De Res (wifi).
We can also recommend breakfast at Ritas Cantina on the San An port front (also Wifi) followed by a walk along the new boardwalk - lovely!
IBIZA IN WINTER!
For the first time ever there are direct flights coming into Ibiza in the Winter...RYANAIR is flying 3 times a week!
Ibiza is fantastic in the off season, uncrowed, mild and usually sunny. The run up to Christmas and New year are brilliant fun. The flowers in Spring are stunning, Easter getsthe island buzzing and before you know it it's summer again.
Any just in case you need to club, Pacha is open every weekend of the year!

payable into a Spanish account or an English account) with the remaining. 50% to be paid 1 month before the rental period commences. A security deposit of £700 is to be paid cash on arrival (returned on check out subject to no breakages). Cancellation and refunds (Up to 12 weeks in advance – no cancellation charge).12 weeks to 4 weeks – 50% of rate refunded. Less than 4 weeks – no refund.

About the owner
We are a young family who live between Surrey and Ibiza. I work as a freelance fashion stylist and my husband runs freelance events which enables us to spend time at our beautiful home in Ibiza. Our 3 year old daughter is happy anywhere and thinks of both places as home.
We are creative people and love the relaxed vibe of the Island and all our beautiful friends and family who live there.
We bought the property just after we were married in 2005 (we honeymooned on Formentera). Our love affair with the island started in 1999 when my husband worked on the production of the MTV party, I initially snubbed the idea of Ibiza being a Saint Tropez snob but in 2000 I also fell under it's spell.

Why the owner chose a home in this location
We saw numerous houses before settling on the then ramshackle Villa Maria, former home of Maria Catalan a local Ibithenco artist and we just loved the energy of the house (and totally underestimated what bad condition it was in!). It took 2 years to fully renovate, new plumbing, electric, septic tank, bathrooms, pool, gardens, windows, kitchen, everything.
It's an ongoing project as the climate in Ibiza is tough on the house and it's not a new building. We lost a huge Mimosa tree in the storms at the beginning of 2009 and had to have a whole new area landscaped.
We especially like that the house is peaceful but not too far from everything, we didn't want to have to drive for miles to buy milk.
Unique benefits of the property
When we stay at the house it is very much our home from home, we settle into our routine of going for a coffee or a walk on the beach in the morning, a swim and then lunch.
In the winters our favourite places to hang out are Santa Gertrudis or Talamanca whilst in the summer we love Cala Comte.
At the house in the summer we swim in our pool during the day then sunset drinks to soak up the atmosphere.
In the colder months it's all about being huddled round the wood burning stove, it's such a great warm room! and great for dinner parties.
We love our house and hope that others do too.
