We are a beautiful restored 18th Century working farm, registered under Agroturismo with 10 en-suite rooms with air conditioning/ heating, safe, and some of them with private terrace, prioffering Bed and Breakfast with full Self-Catering facilities.On our 25 acres we have over 40 sheep and 2 donkeys. We are a sanctuary. We love children . We are not open to the public. A perfect compromise between Hotel and Villa. Relax in a unique informal atmosphere. 35ft solar heated pool with plenty of sun loungers and cushions together with shaded seating areas. The 100ft barn includes my museum of 5 restored Menorcan carts, a billiards , together with dining area and TV area. There is also a complimentary tea and coffee. Fridges, ice, BBQ and kitchen available for guests, we usually cook,an evening meal once a week. There is an honesty bar .Guests may bring in their own drinks. We accept any day of arrival and no minimum stay.
Notes on accommodation
We are bed and breakfast with the added money saving of self-catering. All rooms are tastefully decorated in keeping with the 300 year old house, tea and coffee making facilities, shampoo bath gel and hairdryer. We provide sanctuary and are not open to the public. All rooms can accommodate a double room and in the most of the rooms we have 2 singles. The configuration can be changed to suit your choice of beds. Breakfast is served, (not self service! you are on holiday) and consists of fresh melon, fruit juices, cereals, fresh croissants and bread purchased daily from the local bakery, boiled scrambled or poached eggs and a selection of fresh fruit and yogurt.We usually cook an evening meal one night per week. There is a fridge, BBQ and kitchen available for guests. You may drink your own booze, there is a mess book for each guest.
Accessibility
Matchani is all on one level and we have catered for wheelchairs, crutches, the old and infirm, as well as the inebriated.
Matchani Gran is very nice for children, we love them, we have no steps. We provide you the cot, warm bottle and baby bath
Outside
We have a nice 35ft outside pool. Plenty of loungers with cushions, shaded swinging chairs, covered outside seating area, outside and inside dining area, large covered bar, complimentary tea and coffee making facilities with biscuits and cakes. Boules court, 4 other hidden patios. The garden is my pride and joy. Best lawns on the Island and 15 year old mature garden. 25 acres for the 40 odd sheep and 2 donkeys. We have looked after groups of birdwatchers for 10 years, and I even saw a couple of bee eaters the other day. Herman tortoises everywhere and even a private wood. Sit round the pool after making your own tapas, and drinking your own wine. Come to the bar for free ice and glasses.Save money.
Coast/Beach
The nearest beach is a 40 min walk or 4 min drive. There are 6 other beautiful beaches only a 10 min drive away. There are over 200 beaches, you must love one or two!
Golf
Yes, there is a 18 hole course 10 minutes away.
Special interest holidays
Of special interest is the quiet pool and terraces.
Especially interesting is the fact you can make your own drinks, BBQ your own food, cook in our kitchen, stay in when we cook, participate when we have al fresco nights and provide salad, bread and potatoes, and you cook or BBQ.
Travel
We are 5 mins away from the airport and I can meet you in the dusty airport limo. No problem and no charge. A car is very helpful to explore the Island. The local village of Sant Climent is a 10 min stroll where there are 4 restaurants and regular buss service. Also banks, chemist, bakeries, English pub, paper shop and chocolate shop! We can arrange for a car to meet you at the airport or to be delivered to Matchani.
Distances
The local village of Sant Climent is only 15 minute stroll away.
Bus service from there to Mahon and beaches. Good taxis and loads of them as well.

We are Lawrence and Yola, we love Menorca and the Country. We are menorquins. Matchani Gran is for our guests the Home away from Home. Small and family hotel. We love children. We have a daughter 18 months old now. Lawrence loves trekking and kayak, and he is used to walk through the Cami de Cavalls - a road that surrounds all the island-. Yola has been working for 20 years in the management of hotels in the island, therefore she can help for having a pleasant holidays.
