The property has its own terrace with beautiful views down to the sea.
Coast/Beach
The calla can be reached by car but it is not difficult and far more rewarding to walk down the dusty tracks which start in the village, through the olive groves to the cove. The calla is a beautiful secluded cove overlooked by the terraced hillsides, where a few remaining fishermen still go out at dawn to cast their nets. Here you will find a gently shelving shingle beach where you can have a swim in the crystal clear water and also find a couple of restaurants where you can relax.
Special interest holidays
Walking is a very popular activity in the area all year round and several walks start from the village. Many of the walks are signposted with the approximate time it will take to do the walk. From Son Canals it takes approx 20 mins to walk down to the calla and from there you can continue to Soller, if you are feeling energetic which will take a further 2½ hours. The walk is reasonably strenuous but worth the effort to see some of the beautiful scenery in the area. There are very often local artists exhibiting there work in the Hotel La Residencia. Courses are also run by the prominent artist Alan Hydes who has work in public and private collections all over the world. There are many excellent local restaurants several within easy walking distance of Son Canals so you do not have to worry about having that extra glass of wine or booking a taxi to take you home.
Travel
Deia or Deya is located on the north west coast of Mallorca approx 40 mins from Palma by car.
Distances
Deia is located on the northwest coast of Mallorca between Valdemosa and Soller, approx 30km from the cosmopolitan capital of the Balearic Islands, Palma de Mallorca. Valdemosa is famous because of its links with the composer Chopin and Soller with its French influence as a result of the ports trade in locally grown oranges.
