Coast/Beach
A two minute walk via a footpath at the bottom of the garden takes you, to a natural harbour/cove, next to this a deep rocky inlet provides wonderful snorkelling and, with its man-made platforms is a great place for sand-free swimming, snorkelling/diving and sunbathing. There is bar/restaurant overlooking the seafront which serves excellent fresh fish. The beautiful little beach of Binisafua is just 10 minutes walk away. Binibeca beach is 30 minutes walk or 5 minutes drive in the other direction.
Travel
Mahon airport and Mahon ferry terminal are both about 8 kilometres (15 minutes drive) away. Although there is a cashpoint, a small supermarket and a number of restaurants in Binibeca (which is 10 minutes walk from the house) a hire car is strongly recommended as the island has many beautiful places to visit as well as some of the best unspoilt beaches in the Mediterranean.
Distances
The small town, Sant Lluis, is 4 kms. Mahon is 8kms. Ciudadela at the other end of the island is 45kms. Fornels on the North Coast is 29kms.
Further details
The best supermarket called Sa Botiga is in S'Uestra, 3 kms away on the way to Sant Lluis. A small town, Sant Lluis has several banks and cashpoints, several bars and restaurants, two chemists, a medical centre, a post office, a petrol station and a large number of food shops including two small supermarkets and a hypermarket on its new business park.
There is a diving centre near the house in Cala Torret just down the coast. Boat excursions are available in/from Mahon harbour.

Owner profile
About the owner
I first discovered Menorca when studying Spanish in Barcelona back in the early 70s. We came here for a family holiday in 1979 and were soon completely hooked. Three decades later Menorca still has more unspoiled beaches and virgin coastline than any of its sister islands. We bought the villa that we now let in 1991 and built a second villa next door in 2003. We are based in Menorca from May to early October which enables us to welcome our guests in person and provide any help they may need during their stay. We know the island very well and are very happy to help our more adventurous guests to discover some its many hidden treasures.
Year purchased: 1991
Why the owner chose a home in this location
We decided to buy our villa in Binissafuller for the three most often quoted reasons: location, location, location. First of all the villa has beautiful views over Binissafuller bay and is just minutes from the sea. Second it is on a quiet residential road in a coastal hamlet that has been established for many years and where the houses tend to have large gardens with a lot of mature trees and plants. Third it is convenient in terms of local facilities - shops, restaurants etc without being part of a major tourist development. As is to be expected, the island gets pretty busy in high season but in the seclusion of this villa that's something you hardly notice.
Unique benefits of the property
In addition to all the usual comforts of a well-equipped villa there is wifi internet access and an Ipod base station. Unlike many of the more modern developments there is ample shade available at different times of day be it in the main outside dining area/porch or under the large pergola next to the pool or in one of 3 hammocks under the trees.
The nearby rock pools provide brilliant snorkeling in turquoise water and the pretty family beach of Binissafuller is just 10 minutes walk. There is an excellent fish bar on the sea front just two minutes walk away.
