The chalet is located at the edge of the village of Stadl an der Mur in a small development near to St Lorenzen/Kreischberg and Turracher Hohe ski resorts (to incl. heated pool in 2008). The area is known primarily for its lakes and mountains and the views across the valley from the chalet are exceptional, with umpteen trails, catering for all levels to enjoy the hiking, walking and mountain biking, as well as numerous other activities. This beautifully furnished chalet with open plan living/dining and kitchen downstairs has dual access onto the decked terrace area, balcony, 2 bathrooms and a separate ski room. In the village nearby is a bathing lake which doubles in the winter as an ice skating ring, children's play area, tennis courts etc. Winter sport enthusiasts can enjoy the 7 ski mountain areas locally, the nearest being Kreischberg - a 7 minute car ride away. There are many fabulous traditional restaurants and the historic town of Murau is nearby.

Golf
There are several golf courses in the vicinity, the nearest situated just a few minutes drive away, is the new 18 hole golf course is at St Lorenzen. Both the newly opened 9 hole course at Mariahof (extending to 18 holes in 2008) and extensive Steiemaerkischer Golf Club at Murhof are also worth a visit.
Skiing
For the winter sports enthusiasts there are 7 ski mountain areas locally (altitudes up to 222m) catering for all abilities. The nearest being Kreischberg, (approx 7 mins by car 10 mins by local train). 29km of runs, mainly easy or intermediate and includes speed run, snowboarding champioinship area and good kids activities, ski and snowboarding schools. Frauenalpe is 10 miles/16km away, situated above the city of Murau and host to the Nordic World Championship terrain is easily accessible and offers 36 hectares of skiable terrain with 5 drag lifts. Good 8km run down to Murau at the end of the day.
The stunning resort of Turracher Hohe is located 12 miles/19km away, approx 25 mins away by car. Offers a particularly varied ski terrain with 38km of runs over 2 mountains (connected by a skidoo), at high altitudes (1400-2205m) and snow making facilities guaranteeing perfect snow throughout the season. Also offers a wide range of other sports including cross country etc.
Travel
Airports: Salzburg airport to chalet (1 hr 38 mins). Munich airport to chalet (3hrs 25 mins). Graz airport to chalet (1 hr 50 mins).
By car from Calais using channel tunnel - approx 12/13 hours. Both AA and RAC offer route maps. Good well maintained roads through the valleys, NO mountain precipices to negotiate.
Distances
Down to the village itself including bathing lake - about 10/15 miinute walk.
Nearest ski resort of Kreischberg - 7 minute drive.
Murau - historical city (20 minute drive).
Turracher Hohe, breathtaking scenic village over 2 mountains with lake - 25 mins by car, includes excellent skiing, summer tobaggan run, Crystal Museum etc.
Lots of hiking/walking/mountain biking trails nearby.

Booking notes
Rental prices are per night and are for the whole chalet including linen, towels and Austrian tax. Cleaner is not included. On acceptance of the booking form, a non-refundable 15% deposit is payable in Euros to our Austrian bank account with the balance due 6 weeks before occupancy. A key deposit of £150 is also payable with final payment and this will be refunded within 10 days of the end of holiday, all being well at the chalet.
